Audience Member Not sure how I found out about this one, but I had wished it stayed hidden. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Good story showing how the game of Golf brings out the best, and the worst, of human nature. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member already seen it and while an interesting idea the book and movie are both confusing as hell from trying to do too many things at the same time Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Too many stories trying to be told. The main plot gets quickly lost, and this film goes in too many different directions. On the other hand, some things are introduced, but do not develop at all. Some good actors, but they are not used well. Shame... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member A fine, fine movie. Uplifting, with good character development. The inimitable Philip Baker Hall has perhaps the most difficult role. I would watch anything Gary Sinise is in, and he has a crucial role as the idealist who gave up his shot at the top in favor of obeying the dictates of his conscience. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an odd film. It's sort of a coming-of-age story, where 13-year-old Timmy Price learns about honour and fair play through golf. But there are many other sub-plots. Timmy's father also learns a thing or two, as does the former U.S. Amateur winner who gave up golf right after winning. The acting and cinematography are very good, but the plot never quite finds its focus among all the sub-plots. It's based on a novel, and I suspect the novel went into considerably more detail on many of the secondary characters. The movie hints at these stories, and the lack of detail sometimes makes them seem more real, like people you know in passing. But as a narrative, it lacks closure and finality. Look for Brian Doyle Murray as a caddy at the local country club -- a nice touch considering he played the caddy master in Caddyshack. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
