SkyRo P I recently decided to check out "A Merry Scottish Christmas," a Hallmark film featuring Scott Wolfe and Lacey Chabert. Overall, it was an average watch. While it wasn't a terrible film by any means, it fell into the familiar Hallmark formula. The twist involving a royal lineage was intriguing and added a nice touch, but the storyline felt predictable with a standard setup, progression, and conclusion that didn’t venture far beyond the norm. Though it was somewhat more enjoyable than other Hallmark offerings, it still struggled to maintain excitement. There were moments where I found myself engaged, but ultimately, the film didn’t deliver the emotional payoff I had hoped for by the end. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/27/24 Full Review Matthew D Clunky writing, an American’s idea of what Scotland is like, and predictable character arcs. Why would local working class people love these rich privileged strangers coming to their town? The premise doesn’t make any sense. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/14/24 Full Review Matthew D I was nearly comatose by the end of this terrible Hallmark movie on Netflix. Lacey Chabert and Scott Wolf have weird romantic chemistry, but they are playing brother and sister! The Scottish guy she is supposed to like gets less screen time than the brother. The Scottish scenery, music, and sets are very cute like the ponies. I was so confused by the plots of everyone conflicted about inheriting a Scottish castle, dealing with fake brother-sister tension when they seem to get along just fine, and a barely developed romance story. It's so dull and boring with a lifeless pacing. There's also weird CGI paintings that are pretending like they are oil paintings, but it's so clearly a digital effect. Lacey Chabert deserves to act in better movies with a better script than this surely. I hope Netflix and Hallmark at least paid her a boatload. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/11/24 Full Review Leo W Not horrible. But definitely awkward and goofy. It is what you'd expect from a Halmark movie. Low budget and ridiculous. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/19/24 Full Review Brooklyn B Overall not terrible.. but if i have to hear the damn bagpipes blasting unnecessarily loud ONE MORE TIME i am going to lose it. i have a headache just from the 5 times (5 too many imo) they played them... if you're gonna watch this just be aware of the loud ass bagpipes. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review Wendy B I absolutely love this movie. The location is wonderful and the story is so sweet. Nice to see positive films like this. Scotland is Beautiful!
