*Fun fact:* the average middle school relationship lasts 2-6 months. I went into this knowing the premise seemed problematic, but persevered because 1: cats and 2: another review said it was comically bad. Fortunately, the cats came through, but the comedy did not. Granted, I can't really criticize middle school logic too much, but her stalker-esque relationship didn't seem that healthy. Also, I'm still not convinced that the male lead reciprocates because loving a cat is very different from loving a person.

What to say this movie is a very interesting one hour and 45 minutes laughter fest. As my first anime movie, I was not expecting it to be as I watched. It starts off with a girl, showing narcissistic and psychopathic tendencies, stalking her crush and attacking him every single morning at school saying inappropriate things constantly to him. It's only done when the plot allows it true that we find out that she has made a deal with a cat and has a mask that turns her into a cat and so when she goes to his house and sneaks in, he then snuggles and sniffs this cat, which she takes his love for her, which leaves her down a spiral of coming up to middle school and making a fool out of herself, which then leads to jumping off roofs multiple times in the movie. The girl then decides to run away from home and sells her soul to this cat and is creepily replaced with her stepmother's house cat. The movie takes a turn when there is a bridge that leads to a fake land where the cats live and you find out that the voodoo cat man has done this to about 40 other people. And he is taking her life span so that he can live forever. Overall, it was an interesting two hours. My abdomen hurts from the laughing. I think I've never cried so much over something so confusing, and if you're looking for one of those movies that is just a bunch of exciting and if you're a cat lover this is so for you, but if you're looking for something that's more sane that doesn't take middle school kids and sexualize them with cats I would highly recommend you not watch this with children if you don't want your child showing tendencies like our main character. I've never written a review before but I thought after seeing the surprising scores for this movie that I'll give you my take before you decide to watch this movie if you have kids. IT IS NOT FOR YOUNG KIDS, VERY STALKERY AND SUGGESTIVE LANGUAGE!!!!!

This movie made me laugh because it was extremely unrealistic. I would like to know who is becoming a cat in their free time to stalk their crush. She jumps off the roof and is somehow alive which is not realistic at all. Not only are they in middle school, but they are all insane. At least make it a little more realistic. I mean if i sell my sould to a weird cat i would like to know what actually happens. Why. Just why!!!!

So while the cats may be the initial draw in this film... what really makes A Whisker Away worth watching is its dissection of growing up enough to face difficult feelings head-on and to think seriously about other people's emotions as well.
