Audience Member Aayutha Ezhuthu - 10/10. Mani Ratnam is like Kamal Hassan in many ways. His films have a scope which break through the traditional Tamil cinema and Indian cinema barriers. Some of his films have been huge hits, and some have been misunderstood or extremely ahead of their times. Aayutha Ezhuthu is a perfect example of a movie that was really ahead of its time, and is now celebrated highly compared to when it initially came out. The hyperlink story technique and focus on youth in politics was something that tamil cinema didn't see often or prominently as the main story. Through this film, Mani Ratnam was trying to capture the voice of the youth. What makes this film so awesome is its themes and topics that it touches upon. We follow 3 different men, from three different social and economical backgrounds [Madhavan plays the poor hitman for a corrupt politician (Bharathiraja), Suriya plays the middle class college student who wants to create political change, and Siddharth plays the rich and casual young man whose dreams and aspirations involve going to America]. How the film dives into each character's lives before their stories intertwine (metaphorically done on a bridge), shows the expertise and directing flair that Mani Ratnam has. He dedicates certain colour schemes to the characters to help show their emotions. Each character is given an arc which feels natural and believable. A.R. Rahman delivers a score that brings the furious energy and anger that is found in the youth, and he delivers one of his most underrated scores in his combo with Ratnam. It's a movie about politics, but also a movie about how the youth can help create change. Mani Ratnam gives honest portrayals of the youth, and its quite a nice change that the main focus for the youth in the film isn't just love. Some of Ratnam's best films are ones that look at society and how it is. Hopefully, he makes another film like this in the future! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the best Mani Ratnam's Masterpiece and AR Rahman's soulful songs and BGM. The prime motive of this movie to be made should become reality. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A superb action flick! I loved the storyline of three different people who are somehow connected. Mani Ratnam did a another hit movie, loved the cast! Madhavan as a villain was awesome to see and Meera Jasmine did a great performance aswell. I just missed something at the end of the movie, expected it to continue a little more, but all in all a great movie! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Sublime.
