      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Abandoned spends so much time setting up the creepy atmosphere, that it forgets to inhabit it with genuine spooks or scares.

Jerod S When she finds out her mom has died, she travels to a town where you have to "cross the bridge" to get there. And when she does, she never comes back - because the ghosts of the past won't let her go. The ending is actually one of the redeeming qualities. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Available This movie was one of the worst things I've ever seen. I feel like I genuinely lost years on my lifespan just by experiencing...whatever this thing they put together is called. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/03/22 Full Review Audience Member Im not sure if the silent driving were my favorite parts or the silent walking. Riveting storytelling. To quote SpongeBob "oh brother this guy stinks" Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was boring and stupid. Don’t waste your life away watching it Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/18 Full Review Audience Member The Abandoned isn't short on effective atmosphere and there are some thought-provoking ideas somewhere under the surface, but between the dizzying camerawork, a not particularly interesting lead character, and an inability to handle the philosophy it's trying so hard to present, The Abandoned never takes off enough to warrant a recommendation. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Some clever ideas in certain parts of the movie, particularly towards the end, but unfortunately bad dialogue and plotting still make it feel like a waste of time.
