santiago q The story is not entirely bad. I think that, he could have done better and less predictable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an overly ambitious attempt to show the cold, degrading side of illegal refugee life that can lead to street prostitution for the naive and unwary. Pau Maso shows not only the self-serving motives of his hero's "clients", but also the reluctance of his "friends" to get involved and dirty their hands in a way that would really help him, rather than misunderstand his appeals for help . Even the psychologist he eventually sees offers little more than a fun-fair mirror to his self-loathing, countering with nothing more than positive-thinking bromides. At least his hard-nosed clients are up front about their relationship to him being a purely commercial transaction of money for sex. Given the premise of tragedy that the lead character is faced with, what he needs is sympathy over his loss of family, a willingness to take his mental distress seriously, money to survive no strings attached, support in claiming asylum, help getting State or charity support, and eventually finding a real job, none of which the supposedly well-meaning people he encounters offer him. Are they really that self-absorbed, too? Are they all just being cold selfish "New Yorkers"? In the end the film suddenly offers a Pollyanna solution in the form of "three psychiatrists", unseen, and "a job", although it is stated repeatedly that the hero is "illegal". Less sex, more sympathy and more truth might have saved the script, but as it is, it's just an R-rated mess. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Well scripted and acted. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member If I could this zero stars I would! The lead actor was okay acting but needs work but his character...... AWFUL/DUMB and way to naive for someone who's lived in NYC. The writer could have made him that way at first but come on it kept going. Please heed my warning and don't bother wasting your time!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member It really is as bad as they say. Just all around bad. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Trite story, poorly written script, the acting was awful, except for Maso' who has a certain charisma in it. I wanted to just chuck the movie, but his performance was compelling enough to keep me ejngaged. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
