Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle If you like a side of cheese with your gristle, then Alive may well satiate your desire for a little gore with more. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 25, 2020 Full Review Alix Turner Ready Steady Cut Canadian mystery/horror about two people who wake up in bloody bandages, and unable to remember a thing. Is the caretaker trying to heal them, or are they his captives? Rated: 3/5 Feb 2, 2021 Full Review Lindsay Traves Nightmarish Conjurings I have two competing opinions about Rob Grant's Alive; part of me loved the bloody disaster of the terrifying psycho driven torture porn, and the other is still angry about the left-field half-baked premise and the eye-roll inducing ending. Jan 28, 2021 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills If what you want from zombie movies is gore, gore, and more gore, you may be disappointed, but otherwise this is smart, fun genre entertainment. Sep 26, 2020 Full Review Allen Adams The Maine Edge It's fun to watch a movie so committed to being what it wants to be. It is exactly what you expect, yet also manages to have a trick or two up its sleeve. Alive is blood-soaked and sinister, a gory good time featuring some B-movie thrills. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 22, 2020 Full Review Matt Donato What To Watch Rob Grant's 'Alive' is anything but spare parts (bud) when it comes to surgeons who definitely are operating outside of recognized medical practice guidelines. Craig B Quite a gruesome movie this one. Hard to say too much without giving away the ending, but a fairly solidly acted gore-fest which moves along quite nicely, taking you on a ride with an ending which you may not see coming. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/23 Full Review R Z Watched about 1 hour then turned it off. The dialogue was stilted like a stage play. The doctor character was really one-dimensional and lame. It's low budget, and that's fine, but they didn't put much effort into the sets or the blocking. Like the scene in the garden, the doctor is pruning ... a clump of twigs? They couldn't give him an actual plant?? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/13/23 Full Review Chelsea T too many aspects were unbelievable. acting is sub par. oh and also, its medically impossible- not even remotely believable in the setting of the movie. the gore was lame. I also didn't buy into the antagonist. why create life and then threaten to harm it? its like writer just forgot about logic. how does an abandoned hospital have power? how does he acquire that many dead bodies? how does he get out of a locked freezer? how does he just recover from a neck stab with a liter of saline in his neck? also, no dog would pass up a pile of bloody corpse parts to chase people. i frequently fast-forwarded to get through the prolonged boringness Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/21/23 Full Review robert p First off, I have to deduct stars for a number or reasons: 1. Reminded me with all the blood and guts of the movie "The Evil Dead" the one without Bruce Campbell where it was literally raining blood! 2. The movie became unrealistic at the end, there is no way to bring back life to the dead. 3. The joke at the end of the movie was not frightening at all but rather stupid. Sorry but I can only give this movie a *2* star review!! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review nilufer e It was intriguing and unexpectedly good. Wasn't all that original but there were some twists that I enjoyed. It wasn't necessarily thrilling but it was entertaining and mysterious. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review farah r A brilliantly unnerving horror that keeps getting better to the last minute. Alive is an original and unique film that hinges on the outstanding performances of its three lead actors. They very convincingly portray the emotions that the audience reacts to. Every scene is more tense than the last and you're left thinking about the ending long after the credits roll. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
