Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times Trammell carries the film with the physicality of his performance as the jittery, panicked Sonny, exerting a tremendous effort to contain his rising desperation and hysteria. Jan 26, 2016 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com If there were Oscars for Best Performance in a Movie Academy Voters Wouldn't be Caught Dead Watching, Trammel's performance would be a lock for a nomination. Rated: 3/4 Jan 22, 2016 Full Review Daniel M. Gold New York Times Mr. Trammell's drug-induced stammers and tics don't by themselves add up to a compelling portrayal, nor is this drama of the down and out at all gripping. Jan 21, 2016 Full Review Michael Dequina TheMovieReport.com Sam Trammell is fascinating and fearless, stripped clean--or, more accurately, filthy--of anything approaching actorly vanity. Rated: 3/4 Jan 25, 2016 Full Review Sherilyn Connelly SF Weekly Combines two popular indie genres (Sad Bastard and Low-Budget Crime) without ever quite becoming its own thing. Jan 21, 2016 Full Review Frank Lovece Film Journal International Filmmaker Tim McCann, star Sam Trammell and superb cinematographer Alan McIntyre Smith elevate a low-budget crime drama to an elegant, if repetitive, character study.
