Snapshot of an idealized version of [Montmartre]... fate, joy, momentary despair and still more joy. It’s filled with lists of likes and dislikes and Jeunet’s restless need to entertain makes <i>Amélie</i> a list in itself.

Music carries the whimsical nature of Amelies dream life. We watch her strategize ways to better the lives of unhappy people never realizing she also needs an intervention to bring fulfillment to herself. A French view of the world that cannot help but bring humor and irony to a delightful story of making things happen.

Don't get the hype of this movie. Main character is a psychopath out to ruin everyone's day with stupid pranks. Movie just seems aimless for the most part and not really a comedy
