DanTheMan 2 Nov 17 For all its brutal comic book excess, American Ninja 3 stumbles listlessly around, unsure what to do with itself and trapped in a downward spiral. An unfortunate product of Cannon's perpetual financial woes and the ousting of Golan and Globus, you'd think the ideas would become more sensible; instead, the bizarrely convoluted narrative revolves around a mad scientist who organises a martial arts tournament to demonstrate his genetically engineered super-ninjas. So think American Ninja 2 plus Bloodsport. Not helping matters is the distressing absence of engaging action sequences, because Director Cedric Sundstrom is simply no Sam Firstenberg; Sundstrom instead opts for a distressing over-reliance on too many quick cuts and edits to hide any form of martial arts mayhem the film could have possibly delivered. With Dudikoff declining to return, David Bradley steps in to replace him as a perfectly servicable male action unit, but it's frustrating that Steve James wasn't promoted to the lead; he earned it long before his incredible t-shirt choices. The performances really do carry an otherwise overly familiar narrative. Thankfully, there is at least a halfway decent musical score courtesy of George S. Clinton, plus a bop of a theme song to go with it. Sadly, American Ninja 3: Blood Hunt feels like a wasted opportunity, even with a good deal of meta humour on James' part; the whole ordeal just doesn't quite click together in a way that feels as remotely satisfying as Cannon's previous ninja outings. Rest of the movie is trash tho. See more William D @Williams0604 12/07/2023 This and the American Ninja 5 are the worst of the series. Do your self a favor and skip this. See more Alain M 02/10/2023 "American Ninja 3 may not live up to the standards set by its predecessors, but Steve James still rocks the screen. Despite a weak storyline, James' performance as Curtis Jackson shines, bringing energy and charisma to the film. His martial arts skills are impressive, making for some thrilling fight scenes. Although it may not be on par with American Ninja 1 and 2, it's still worth a watch for fans of the series and for those who appreciate Steve James' talent. 💪 #SteveJames #MartialArtsAction #AmericanNinja 🔥" See more 01/16/2022 I really love the American ninja movie See more Read all reviews
