Melody McCune Geek Girl Authority Overall, American Cherry isn’t without its flaws, but the performances and visuals make for an enjoyable viewing experience. Aug 22, 2023 Full Review Brittany Witherspoon Screen Rant It often bites off more than it can chew, but American Cherry has enough there to be a thought-provoking and worthy debut. Rated: 3/5 Mar 17, 2023 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat American Cherry is an engaging and introspective look at young romance, wayward souls, and what brings two people together. Rated: 10/10 Mar 13, 2023 Full Review Alejandro Turdo Hoy Sale Cine American Cherry’s final twist puts the entire story into a different light, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg for a film that exposes a failing educational system, domestic abuse and toxic relationships, contained within a coming of age thriller. John B Such a sad ending to a good movie.. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/11/23 Full Review Jessica G This was cringeworthy, from start to finish. Depressed, brooding voiceovers by the main character were obviously supposed to sound profound and poetic, but they were boring, repetitious, and trite. All the characters were completely undeveloped, and offered zero resonance. No chemistry between any of them. Each was depressed and self-centered, like juvenile projections of what tortured, poetic souls should be. The dialogue was tedious and went nowhere. The acting was amateur and stilted. The camera angles and film techniques are so overdetermined to seem "artistic," like a 7th grader at a film school summer camp. The score played in an endless loop. totally predictable and almost painful to watch for the awful attempt to be a deep art film. I felt zero emotion for any of the scenes, plot, characters - just embarrassed that this got made. Totally terrible in all ways. Even the title was a mismatch. So glad I never have to watch that again. Ten thumbs down. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/04/23 Full Review John B For me this film is basically a small town version of American Beauty. While the story keeps you engaged and wondering what will happen next, sometimes it gets to deep for the characters. If you like a deep coming of age storyline with both likable and hateable characters then you'll enjoy this movie. A high 4 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/16/23 Full Review X O Wow. What a cool film. No bullshit. Clean dialogue. I read a review where the critic said it was sensationalised. FFS. When is it too sensational or boring? The point is the director has made a great, paired down film covering lots of issues. It is easy to be critical, it is hard to create. How many people would make this so stereotypical. A brilliantly done, individual film. So impressive. Marcella Cytrynowicz, you're awesome to be real. Great work. :) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
