Kristy Puchko Mashable American Sweatshop is a cool and riveting thriller that gets under your skin, creeping up your spine to bend your brain. Like the internet videos that are its grim inspiration, it's not easy to shake off the chills American Sweatshop triggers. Aug 29, 2025 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com As often as this film frustrated me regarding Nemeth’s shallow script, I was impressed by the choices made by Lili Reinhart, who plays Daisy’s numbness not as apathy, but something fueled by frustration and anger. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 29, 2025 Full Review Jacob Oller AV Club American Sweatshop feels like it’s casually swiping through its themes, never coalescing into a feed as unsettling as the real thing. Rated: C- Mar 12, 2025 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media The plot of this thriller isn't very thrilling, but the situation and characters, and the ways in which the problematic internet content affects them, are enough to give this a look. Rated: 3/5 Sep 4, 2025 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com “American Sweatshop” isn’t always a cohesive endeavor, teasing genre turns and skating over a more direct understanding of the business, but it offers a unique overview of a mental decline, which is capably captured in Lili Reinhart’s lead performance. Rated: B Aug 30, 2025 Full Review Karina Adelgaard Heaven of Horror It’s realistic in all the darkest and most sinister ways because it focuses on all the terrible videos shared on social media. Even after reading the plot, the full impact of this story only really hit me as I watched it unfold. Rated: 4/5 Aug 29, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Alyssa D On the edge of my seat the entire time. Suspenseful, thought-provoking, original. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/03/25 Full Review Selena C This movie blew me away. I'm a Riverdale fan and wanted to support Lili but I didn't expect it to stay with me as much as it has. I wasn't familiar with content moderation at all but since I've watched it I've read all about it and it's truly such a dark job. American Sweatshop could have just focused on all the effed up content out there and it still would have been interesting, but the focus was on Daisy's (Lili's) individual reaction to one specific video and the rabbit hole she went down thinking about it. I won't give it away, but you do NOT expect what happens — I can guarantee it (sorry to all the YouTube commenter who are convinced they know what's gunna happen!) I don't know if this is a horror movie, a psychological thriller or a drama, but I do know Lili Reinhart was unbelievably good and more people should watch and talk about this! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/02/25 Full Review Rose C Worth a watch for sure — great performances and interesting story. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/02/25 Full Review Maddy N This movie was pretty unique in subject matter and in tone too. It's not really a thriller. More of a drama with scary moments. And it was funnier than expected. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/02/25 Full Review James M Saw this at SXSW and absolutely loved it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/28/25 Full Review Read all reviews
