Georgan G Only Shakespeare could invent such a complex story. Almost no character is who they appear to be. Hard to watch because of Old English, but quite a movie. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/20/23 Full Review Audience Member What in thee holy blue hell? Shakespeare... to the tune of biker gangs. Maybe it's more palpable if the dialogue is updated but without doing so it's just a weird watch, through and through. Also, I think it's a totally ridiculous story that lacks the detail and depth necessary to make it seem not aloof in the current day and age. That said, I think it's a story that could work if better updated, because it has some nice twists. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review jelisije j Another Modern Day Shakespearean movie that surprise surprise doesn't work. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review ripper j Great cast but I just couldn't get into it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review michael h Excellent cast, DP, storyline... all set for something great, but someone thought it was a good idea to have the 'poor writing' spoken in a Shakespearean manner, even though you can tell immediately that it is NOT going to work. It's unwatchable. So bummed about the movie that could've been. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Gosh, a creative license is necessary to adapt Shakespeare to the screen. Somebody tell whoever is responsible for this movie that. What starts out as a pretty good looking cast is all ruined by the end, nobody looks good by the time this thing ends, and all the promise that it may begin with all rots before the end credits roll. Bring some Visine to this one because your eyes are going to be red and dry. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Anthony Lane New Yorker What we get-a bitty and begrimed romance-has a lyrical sway of its own, and, even if some of the cast seem lost in the lines, Hawke returns to save the day, and the movie. Mar 23, 2015 Full Review Peter Sobczynski RogerEbert.com A conceptually weak and dramatically muddled mess that has acquired a game and good cast and then given them precious little to do. Rated: 2/4 Mar 13, 2015 Full Review Tirdad Derakhshani Philadelphia Inquirer If too many filmmakers try to amp up the excitement in Shakespeare with movie magic, Almereyda goes to the opposite extreme in Cymbeline. Rated: 2/4 Mar 13, 2015 Full Review Vadim Rizov Filmmaker Magazine Thus ad infinitum; these are the easter eggs you come for first and foremost, close reading as near-gimmickry. Jan 23, 2023 Full Review David Walsh World Socialist Web Site This is a film without a wide range of emotions, they remain mostly on the somber side, but those explored are seriously explored. The overall mood is one of sympathy for the young, the marginalized, the rebellious. Feb 12, 2021 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It gives us Shakespeare, but with a murkiness and lack of poetics and too many story-lines converging all at once.
