Brent McKnight Seattle Times Angry Inuk offers much to chew on. Rated: 3/4 Jun 20, 2017 Full Review Brad Wheeler Globe and Mail A dignified response to those who oppose seal hunting but willfully ignore the fact that international bans on seal products severely inhibit the subsistence hunting vital to Arctic communities. Rated: 3.5/4 Oct 28, 2016 Full Review C.J. Prince 4:3 [Director Alethea] Arnaquq-Baril has an undoubtedly difficult challenge on her hands: convincing viewers that slaughtering seals is, in fact, a good thing. Dec 15, 2017 Full Review T'Cha Dunlevy Montreal Gazette From the outset of Alethea Arnaquq-Baril's eye-opening documentary Angry Inuk, it is clear that this is going to be a different take on seal hunting than the one that has dominated the mainstream conversation over the past four decades. Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 9, 2017 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Where the film gets really interesting is where Arnaquq-Baril tries to communicate with the animal rights organisations pushing for further anti-sealing legislation. Rated: 3/5 Jan 27, 2017 Full Review Susan G. Cole NOW Toronto Angry Inuk imparts important information about an issue we tend to think we know everything about and delivers a powerful emotional punch. Audience Member A beautifully made, intimate, and straight from the heart doc. Everyone interested in indigenous issues and climate change should see this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A stunning movie that I used in the classroom to raise student awareness of global issues facing northern communities. Students were stunned by what saw and had never thought to question such issues as how animal rights groups raise their money or how their work might negatively impact anyone. Beautifully filmed and thoughtfully presented throughout. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Eye-opening! A must-see.
