Its effects are almost invisible, but effective enough to make the spacecraft, the weightlessness, and the isolation feel real. The heavy technical jargon can be intellectually challenging, yet the film remains accessible thanks to the clarity of its actions and performances. Tom Hanks is charismatic and comforting, though his delivery of the iconic "Houston, we have a problem" lacks the weight I expected. The rest of the cast feels functional rather than memorable, serving the story more than standing out as characters. Where the film truly succeeds is in building tension: the accumulation of problems creates a suffocating sense of confinement and danger.
