William Goss Austin Chronicle It's tough to get too worked up, as head-mounted cameras whip between fleeting figures and panicked faces with all the tension of a jittery recording of a trip through your local haunted house. Sep 3, 2014 Full Review Wesley Morris Grantland Once upon a time, when someone in a horror movie turned a doorknob or drove toward a storm, you got to feel superior and shout, "Don't go in there!" Now it's more like, "Seriously? You're not gonna put down that camera first?" Sep 2, 2014 Full Review Randy Cordova Arizona Republic Once the characters go underground, things start happening. Not scary things, mind you, but things. Aug 31, 2014 Full Review Jessica Scott Ghouls Magazine Combining elements from Tomb Raider and The Descent with Dante’s Inferno, As Above, So Below is a striking and unique film that cleverly exemplifies its title by finding the horror within this claustrophobia of the soul. Dec 22, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Fulfilling its B-movie requirements with ample jolts and tension throughout, the low-budget production boasts a diverting storyline and some fun, cheap thrills for casual late-night viewers. Rated: 3/4 Jul 29, 2022 Full Review Josh Larsen LarsenOnFilm ...filming in Paris’ actual catacombs gives the movie an undeniably spooky aura and oppressive claustrophobia. Heather N One of the best horror films. Great story, great acting, great twists, great scares, and the best ending. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/10/24 Full Review Millie R I quite liked this movie for a quick scare. It doesn't implement horror or deeply terrify you but the jump scares are good, the backstory of all this doesn't really make sense, and the end is incomplete (imo). I did however like the use of mythology in this. Worth a watch for sure. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/08/24 Full Review Audience Member Descending into the underground world of the catacombs is nothing short of thrilling following these treasure hunting adventurers into the depths under Paris. The way the movie plays out bringing you into the catacombs allowing you a glimpse of such a unique historical location but also being brought into the darkest parts of the characters pasts and traumas; seeing what truly haunts them being brought to life in the dark. I typically do not find myself too impressed with found footage style films but this one really brings something to the table that I feel most films dont quite hit the mark on. Its certainly a movie I recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review Jerry T It's no bad at all if it's your first fount footage Movie :) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/22/24 Full Review Guy P What starts as a found footage National Treasure X Horror movie, falls flat, the claustrophobia never really sets in as intended and the characters are very one dimensional and you end up asking why do they keep going deeper as you lose your mind before they lose theirs. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/18/24 Full Review Brian M Thoroughly entertaining found footage claustrophobia horror. Tomb Raider meets the Descent in the Paris catacombs, what a great concept!
