Audience Member This is another attempt to further the myth that sometimes rape leads to romance. Or, that women sometimes enjoy rape (perhaps subconsciously?). I thought by now that men and women had agreed that rape was never desirable under any circumstances. Perhaps it could be suggested that the film was exploring the idea of the Stockholm Syndrome. If they were, I feel like the viewer would need to be aware of this somehow. Because otherwise, you get the sense that this young woman somehow enjoyed being raped. And that would be promoting a myth, as I said before. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member this was one of the real standouts at TIFF this year for me. it's certainly not for everyone, but benoit jacquot's ambiguous, challenging and rewarding mystical (possibly) thriller is a fantastic film filled with truly great performances by the two leads, isild le besco and nahuel perez biscayart. following a woman who is possibly abducted against her will by a sorcerer in form of a homeless vagabond, jacquot's film plunges the depths of human desire, sexuality and self-control. the film's score, all gothic chamber orchestra and foreboding, is simply fantastic accompaniment.
