Matt McCracken In Review Online While not operating on the same level of action consistency as a John Wick, the sequel here will satisfy the mild critiques of the initial entry that took issue with the lack of kineticism beyond that film’s opening and close. Apr 4, 2024 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Sakamoto manages to keep this light and charming even when people are bleeding, struggling to breathe or actually dying in the dirt. Rated: 4/5 Mar 7, 2024 Full Review Sean Gilman The Chinese Cinema Watching these movies, I wonder why anyone ever bothers to make movies that are not Baby Assassins films. Nov 11, 2023 Full Review Alan Zilberman Spectrum Culture There is an affable, spastic sense to the comedy in this film. The leads have natural chemistry, and their banter smooths over the languid middle section of the film, a kind of highlight reel for Gen Z angst. Sep 27, 2023 Full Review Justin Harrison The Spool All four of Baby Assassins 2 Babies‘ leads acquit themselves well, but Izawa’s the standout. She’s a high-speed blitzer whose punch-heavy fighting style intersects with Sonomura’s emphasis on positioning and constant adjustment in fun ways. Sep 24, 2023 Full Review Douglas Davidson Elements of Madness ... rather than suffer sequelitis, it expands itself, stretching so as to reach new and entertaining feats of charming chaos. This is a franchise that has yet to wear out its welcome and whose characters I, once again, can’t wait to get more of. Rated: 4.5/5 Aug 29, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Matthew D Even funnier, faster paced, and more exciting than the first Baby Assassins movie! Director Yugo Sakamoto’s Japanese slice of life action-comedy Baby Assassins 2 (2023) is a riot! Sakamoto’s direction is very playful and stays at a silly tone. Stunt choreographer Kensuke Sonomura’s action sequences are far more intricately choreographed here than in the first film. I will say this also feels like it got a bigger budget too. Cinematographer Moritada Iju’s close-up shots look quite beautiful. The wide shots capture all the fights in vivid detail and with smooth movements. Production designer Iwasaki Miku’s sets are so colorful and cute. Writer Yugo Sakamoto’s story is hilarious. The teenage girl assassins struggle to pay their rent, insurance, and gym membership bills. It’s so funny that they easily kill every hit and assassin that comes for them, but are having a hard time holding down a job. The bank robbery bit is as amusing as the two male assassin novices that try to take out the girls. Mahiro Fukugawa’s brutal physical fights as Saori Izawa are amazing. She’s so fast and capable with a playful shyness for her character. Her final duel is so epic and enthralling. I could watch another Baby Assassins movie for sure because of her fighting skills. Chisato Sugimoto is so pretty and hilarious as the gun firing assassin Akari Takaishi. She’s so playful in her outrageous performance and once again charmed me the most. Composer Ken Matsubara’s intense metal music with heavy guitar parts are so fun for the action scenes. The goofy Japanese pop songs by Mizyu Rin and Suzuka Kanon are delightful throughout the rest of the film. Sound designer Mouri Igarashi’s loud gunshots and hard hits sound excellent. The clothing noises for the close quarters combat is awesome. Makeup artist Akai Mizuki provides cute looks and pretty haircuts for everyone. In short, Baby Assassins 2 is superior in every way to the first film at a brisk 101 minutes of laughs and violence. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/22/25 Full Review Dan D While not as great as the original, this is still a great movie. Action scenes are superb and the leading ladies are still slackers who are really good at killing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/25 Full Review Gnr E They did it much better again! Loved it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/31/24 Full Review Munchkin L Never watched similar movie before. Interesting to see the assasin kids Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/31/24 Full Review Geke g Fantastic context recommended to everyone. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/27/24 Full Review D B Didn't fail as a sequel, thank God it was on par. A little slowed down, but nice build up at the end. Still an awesome movie.
