william d Although hampered by some clunky dialogue here and there, it's still a decent enough melodrama. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The best romance movie ever made! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member version # 1 of 3 of this weepie from frannie hurst Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member based on the fannie hurst book this is the best vesrion so check this one out and skip the remake Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member The opening card of this classic female melodrama sets the sardonic theme wonderfully: "Back in the good 'ole days, before women were given the right to vote..." Of course what follows is a male fantasy rife with ego, domineering, and emotional blackmail all told from the perspective of Dunne's character. In the 'good ole days' before suffrage, she must rely on hand-outs, both financial and emotional, from powerful men to feel as though she has any power herself.
