Critics Consensus

It's good to have Diaz and Foxx back, but they deserve a warmer welcome than this rote action-comedy.

A solid action-comedy that proves just how much we’ve missed Cameron Diaz in the last ten years. Next time don’t leave it so long, eh? Go to Full Review

It's not a memorable film, due to its rather classic and formulaic structure, with some predictable moments. But it manages to entertain the viewer with a well-known and charismatic cast, good action scenes, and well-aimed jokes. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Doesn't blow the lid off the genre like ['Spy Kids'] did nearly a quarter century ago, but it does offer two hours of good-natured laughter and entertaining-enough intrigue. Go to Full Review

Seth Gordon's latest attempt at high profile frivolity falls short of the meager promise in its generic title with this boring misfire cobbling together recycled elements of black action choreography and hokey comedy. Go to Full Review

Bill T. @btreakle 4d “Back In Action”Is a movie starring Jamie Foxx Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close. This film was a spoof of a spy thriller. The many exploits of a married couple who return to a normal life only to find themselves dragged back into the world of spies. Is there a story along with their children who are sucked into their spy world and find out who their parents really are. Film has a lots of comedy and humor and the three main actors in this film do a tremendous job delivering this fun family spy thriller. I highly recommend this film for all ages. If you’re a fan of Cameron Diaz or Jamie Foxx our Glenn Close and this is a film for you they don’t disappoint. I give this film a 7 out of 10 stars only because it's pretty predictable. See more Sean K @Ahsoka17 4d A rather casual watch, a few funny moments, Cameron Diaz has been a huge miss to movies over the last decade, overall 3/5 for me See more Ron L Nov 30 Absolutely bad movie night See more Zane T Nov 30 Despite it's classic tropes and campiness. The movie is good for what it is. Not the worst but not the best. See more Brett F @brettfenex Nov 20 I loved it! I am not sure why it doesn't get any love from the critics. It is fun and funny and I hope they make a sequel! See more Ian F Nov 14 This is the kind of switch off, lay back and let the fun happen type movie. It’s a simple enough story with some great acting as well as some pretty lame jokes. Not a blockbuster but definitely a lighthearted action comedy See more Read all reviews
