Critics Consensus

It's good to have Diaz and Foxx back, but they deserve a warmer welcome than this rote action-comedy.

Ben Travis Empire Magazine A solid action-comedy that proves just how much we’ve missed Cameron Diaz in the last ten years. Next time don’t leave it so long, eh? Rated: 3/5 Feb 4, 2025 Full Review Jonathan Romney Financial Times Back in Action epitomises the Netflix category of “casual viewing”, ie stuff you can have on in the background while you’re washing up. Rated: 1/5 Feb 4, 2025 Full Review Kristy Puchko Mashable Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx team up for an action-comedy designed meticulously for Gen X Jan 30, 2025 Full Review Rachel Ho Exclaim! Doesn't blow the lid off the genre like ['Spy Kids'] did nearly a quarter century ago, but it does offer two hours of good-natured laughter and entertaining-enough intrigue. May 14, 2025 Full Review Nicholas Bell Fish Jelly Films (YouTube) Seth Gordon's latest attempt at high profile frivolity falls short of the meager promise in its generic title with this boring misfire cobbling together recycled elements of black action choreography and hokey comedy. Rated: 1.5/5 Mar 20, 2025 Full Review Lisa Johnson Mandell AtHomeInHollywood.com Regardless of the fact that this Netflix action comedy isn’t the most original movie you’ve ever seen, Back in Action throws an amusing curve or two, and the clever teaming of Cameron Diaz with Jamie Foxx is fun and refreshing. Rorr W A generic, witty, action filled movie, repeating the routines of most. Yet still fun to Gen Z watchers. They made a modern acceptable thriller for youth of different ages ranges, stereotypes, cultural difference, genders, etc. It's like Spy kids. Because there are so many different views in society we will each take a personal hit at it according to our liking of content the movie has in it, in regards to the message, and to our personal views of ourselves and society, and that is okay. Still to be fair outside of my opinionated cultural difference I think we watched it because of Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/01/25 Full Review Hadeel A Silly tricks , ridiculous story line , empt characters and no depth in scenario, what a waste of time Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/31/25 Full Review Grinch O I don't wanna be that guy especially in a Jamie foxx movie,,,,some people may like it but it wasn't a good movie for me especially the acting and script Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/29/25 Full Review Daniel P This movie is entertaining enough to hold your attention but forgettable. Diaz and Fox had good chemistry but the film is very predictable and well it something to watch nothing special. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/29/25 Full Review samirah N all you guys writing reviews are ALL wrong this show is amazing and it gives you the sense of sneaky kids but sneakier parents . you old heads don’t understand movies you expect it to be the 1980s what do you know about corny …. don’t ever review movies again Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/28/25 Full Review James G Tired story line with disrepectful bratty kids and parents bowing to them. The movie was quite boring, predictable and embarrassing at times. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/21/25 Full Review Read all reviews
