Critics Consensus

It's good to have Diaz and Foxx back, but they deserve a warmer welcome than this rote action-comedy.

Ben Travis Empire Magazine A solid action-comedy that proves just how much we’ve missed Cameron Diaz in the last ten years. Next time don’t leave it so long, eh? Rated: 3/5 Feb 4, 2025 Full Review Jonathan Romney Financial Times Back in Action epitomises the Netflix category of “casual viewing”, ie stuff you can have on in the background while you’re washing up. Rated: 1/5 Feb 4, 2025 Full Review Kristy Puchko Mashable Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx team up for an action-comedy designed meticulously for Gen X Jan 30, 2025 Full Review Nicholas Bell Fish Jelly Films (YouTube) Seth Gordon's latest attempt at high profile frivolity falls short of the meager promise in its generic title with this boring misfire cobbling together recycled elements of black action choreography and hokey comedy. Rated: 1.5/5 Mar 20, 2025 Full Review Lisa Johnson Mandell AtHomeInHollywood.com Regardless of the fact that this Netflix action comedy isn’t the most original movie you’ve ever seen, Back in Action throws an amusing curve or two, and the clever teaming of Cameron Diaz with Jamie Foxx is fun and refreshing. Feb 17, 2025 Full Review Jackie K. Cooper jackiekcooper.com Great chemistry between the lead actors and I had really missed Cameron Diaz. Rated: 7/10 Feb 6, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

KerryWhite's S Rating: 6/10. 67/100 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/06/25 Full Review Theode A I didn't know what to watch, so i watched this movie. You didn't have to be fully present to watch the movie. Its an alright movie. If youre bored and you dont know what to watch and you don't want to fully be invested in an movie then you should watch it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/05/25 Full Review Wendy B I really enjoyed this movie. An edge of your seat adventure with Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. Just great fun! Definitely recommended! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/05/25 Full Review Christy B The reviews on here are crazy to me. It's a pg13 movie so it's suppose to be family friendly. Yes the action scenes you could tell could of been better with thr choreograph martial arts but the marvel movies get great ratings and the script is so little/sub par and most of the actors barely do anything and its mostly all green screen. The script in this movie was great, the story line was expected but done well, and when you were guessing who was corrupt, you had many options and who we thought was not it. I can't wait to watch this with our kids. With the bad reviews there will probably not be another one which the ending was eluding to but wish there was going to be. We had a lot of laughs and was involved the entire time and that to us is a great movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/04/25 Full Review Lyric N I actually loved this movie. It is the perfect amount of nostalgia (you know, how Saturday family movie night used to feel about a decade ago?) and modern jabs. Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz had GREAT chemistry. I don’t care what anyone says, they seemed natural and comfortable together, quipping off one another, and being simultaneously quirky and badass parents. As long as you don’t take certain continuity details or the actual spy-storyline THAT seriously, it’s as entertaining as it’s meant to be. Love. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Dillon L Cameron & Jamie both SMASHED this film! Then you add Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Kyle Chandler, McKenna & Rylan… BIG HIT! Not to mention the amount of action, stunts, comedy, badassness, SOLID storylines, character developments & the “Spy Kids & The Incredibles” hints of family kickassary… Seth Gordon for the W!
