82% 17 Reviews Tomatometer 69% 100+ Ratings Audience Score Tired of being locked in a reptile house where humans gawk at them like they're monsters, a ragtag group of Australia's deadliest creatures plot a daring escape from their zoo to the Outback, a place where they'll fit in without being judged for their scales and fangs. Leading the group is Maddie (Isla Fisher), a poisonous snake with a heart of gold, who bands together with a self-assured Thorny Devil lizard Zoe (Miranda Tapsell), a lovelorn hairy spider Frank (Guy Pearce), and a sensitive scorpion Nigel (Angus Imrie). But when their nemesis -- Pretty Boy (Tim Minchin), a cute but obnoxious koala -- unexpectedly joins their escape, Maddie and the gang have no choice but to take him with them. So begins a hair-raising and hilarious road trip across Australia, as they are pursued by a zookeeper Chaz (Eric Bana) and his adventure-seeking mini-me (Diesel La Torraca). Directed by Clare Knight and Harry Cripps, and also featuring the voices of Rachel House, Keith Urban, Celeste Barber, Wayne Knight, Lachlan Power, and Jacki Weaver, BACK TO THE OUTBACK is an animated adventure that proves just because something's different, doesn't mean it isn't beautiful. Jander T É uma animação muito boa, eu não esperava isso. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/17/23 Full Review Nathan Z Cringe from start to finish Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Jeffrey M Back to the Outback was an amazing movie. I watched it about a year ago, so it is not that fresh in my mind, but I remember it was great. It was a super funny comedy, and I LOVE comedy. Back to the Outback has a great moral too. Being different is not bad. That's a good moral for a movie. What a good movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/09/23 Full Review Nick H It's very amusing, and has that Australian irreverence that's mostly missing from Hollywood produced films. For example the main character is called Chaz Hunt, initial C Hunt. Now say that out loud. See? So there's a good bit to amuse adults and kids. But it's still fairly standard fayre. Worth a watch for sure but doesn't break any new ground, and the premise is very Madagascar 1 with an added sprinkling of 2. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/07/23 Full Review Audience Member I’m not going to say it was great but yeah it was ok Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/05/23 Full Review OLIVIA M Amazing, I didn't think I would laugh this hard but I freaking loved it!! There hasn't been many movies I said were good and this one definitely one of my top favorites this year! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Gorgeous character design and some delightful voice performances elevate this uneven CGI romp in which a bunch of "ugly" Australian animals break out of a zoo and head for the outback. Dec 11, 2021 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald The slapstick is seasoned with some dryly laconic jokes and a lot of wit has gone into the score, which ranges from surfing hits to Charles Aznavour. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 11, 2021 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com There's just too little fresh creative passion here in a project that's sometimes sweet but also remarkably programmatic. Rated: 2/4 Dec 10, 2021 Full Review Mat Brunet AniMat's Review (YouTube) Back to the Outback is probably a cute adventure for children, but outside of that, its just a generically forgettable animated kids film. Rated: 5/10 Feb 16, 2022 Full Review John Serba Decider Back to the Outback is an adequate time-waster for young audiences, even if it's not particularly original or funny. Parents won't quite need to shoot themselves with a tranq dart to survive it, but it probably wouldn't hurt. Dec 20, 2021 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation It's formulaic, but good clean fun. And it's a fair dinkum way for the kiddos to learn Oz wildlife and Oz slang in a cartoon. Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 13, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
