Virgo V @vision Jul 7 Bad Genius, known in Thai as Chalard Games Goeng, is a 2017 Thai heist thriller film directed by Nattawut Poonpiriya and co-written by Nattawut, Tanida Hantaweewatana and Vasudhorn Piyaromna. It stars Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying in her feature film debut as Lynn, Chanon Santinatornkul, Teeradon Supapunpinyo and Eisaya Hosuwan. It was produced by Jor Kwang Films. It was distributed by GDH 559. Overseas, it broke Thai film earning records in several Asian countries, including China, where it grossed over $30 million, making it the most internationally successful Thai film ever. The film earned a worldwide cumulative gross of $42.35 million as of 22 October, according to Comscore. Among its awards and nominations, the film won a record-breaking twelve awards at the 27th Suphannahong National Film Awards, including Best Picture. The film spawned multiple remakes and adaptations, with news of Indian and American acquisitions first reported on in 2018. A Bollywood version, produced by Salman Khan, was released as Farrey in November, 2023. An American version, produced by Erik Feig and Patrick Wachsberger and directed by J.C. Lee, was released as Bad Genius in 2024. The background score successfully builds tension and makes viewers feel uneasy. The female lead also delivers a strong performance, portraying her character convincingly.
