DanTheMan 2 A loose reimagining of Peter Weir's 1985 film, Witness, Wild Search comes as an extremely pleasant surprise and showcases Ringo Lam's often underrated versatility as a director. It's a much more tranquil romantic drama with elements of his police procedural thrillers rather than high-octane action, although Lam does manage to provide us with some intense action regardless, patterned car chase included. With gentle pacing and exceptional performances from all involved, this easily ranks as one of Chow Yun-fat's best and his chemistry with Cherie Chung effortlessly enchants. Combining this with the gorgeous photography of Infernal Affairs' Andrew Lau and a dreamy score by Lowell Lo and Wild Search remains an extremely captivating and downright wholesome experience in its own right. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Ringo Lam is often compared to John Woo because both of them features Chow Yun Fat in so many films, but their interests are, I think, different - While Woo is more interested in direction of gunfight and aesthetic of a man, Ringo Lam originally is more into showing human drama. Yun Fat can play so many kind of role, and it is his ability as an actor, but he is also blessed with so many talented directors who can get so many faces out of him. Although I said Yun Fat can play so many types of characters, he is Chow Yun Fat before he is the character in a movie, and that's why he is such a big star and loved by so much people. In this film, he shows great performance not only as the usual role of a hard-boiled cop but also a man who overcomes loss of his wife and daughter by meeting a woman who is the sister of a killed-suspect. Cherie Chung plays the heroin nicely, and the chemistry between Yun Fat and Cherie Chung is exquisite. Indeed, they two plays hero and heroin in so many movies. The rhythm os storytelling is good, too. A very fine Hong Kong film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Always good to see Chow Yun Fat and that kid is just great. CHOW YUN FAT GREAT TO WATCH AS EVER. THE ENDING LETS IT DOWN QUITE A BIT Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member hang yang chang! hoo fung young choung! ha lol Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
