James B A reasonable plot, written by a 5 year old, a naive five year old. Every scene is either ridiculous, or includes speeches which are solid exposition and robotic monologues. Folk hero Dave Fishwick is overplayed to such an extent he's a parody, and the court proceedings are facile in the extreme. I could go on. Feelgood films are one thing, but they only work if they're believable and retain some shred of credibility, especially if 'based on a true(-ish) story', as this is.
