Doge G Es una película breve para pasar el rato, no es lo mejor de Don Bluth, pero no es horrible. Nostalgia makes you blind. As a child I saw this film many times, but after that I lost touch with the film and have not seen it for years. So I decided to get my hands on Bartok again. The film, I found out, is an Anastacia spin-off and is direct-to-video. Unfortunately, it is perceived that it is a direct-to-video film. The plot is all too simple that points to the banal and the obvious. Moreover, there is no shortage of plot holes: for example in one scene Bartok was deprived of flying (although there are numerous scenes in which he did not do it for convenience) but later resumes the use of the wings as if nothing had happened. The jokes weren't funny. The characters are revisited instead in 2 sides: bartok and the witch and then all the others. The first 2 mentioned are well characterized, especially the witch, who very well breaks the cliché of the evil witch. Others are simply one-dimensional or uninteresting to explore. The villain is the biggest disappointment in the whole movie: there's nothing about her that really sets her apart from another villain. She is simply generic and without personality. The animations, for a direct-to-video film, are very good and you can see the hand of experienced and capable animators. Besides, the film just couldn't get me hooked enough on the characters, which I didn't care about, and I was a little bored with the film. The sentence at the beginning of the review is not accidental: the nostalgia of growing up on a film / series makes us forget the objectivity of the work done. But now I'm not saying: don't evaluate it on subjective values. A compromise must always be found between the 2. Bartok may have raised me, but you have huge plot and character problems. With bland characters, mundane and boring story, and non-brilliant jokes, Bartok could have been a lot better than that. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
