Jordan Hoffman UGO More so than most of the DC Animated films, Red Hood aims for cinematic storytelling. Rated: A- Jul 29, 2010 Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn The voice acting and story makes this one of the best "Batman" animated DC films. Rated: 4/5 Sep 10, 2023 Full Review Tatiana Albandos Medium Popcorn I wish we could have had more flashbacks with Jason Todd to really emphasize that this is a darker take on Robin. However, I really enjoyed the darkness of this film and the voice acting. Rated: 4/5 Sep 10, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Here’s a worthy movie that redeems some of Warner Premier’s lesser titles, offering a one-shot experience that’s easily disposable for general audiences, but a must-see for fans of animation, Batman, and general comic book fare. Rated: 3/4 Aug 9, 2023 Full Review Gabe Leibowitz Film and Felt An extremely dark, brisk chapter in the Dark Knight's ever-popular screen sagas. Rated: 68/100 Jul 9, 2011 Full Review Sean Axmaker Seanax.com Definitely not for young kids, but it's smart pulp writing and well put together for a direct-to-DVD animation. Frosty S Absolutely one of the best DC movies period. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/11/25 Full Review Donavin D Almost every animated Batman film over the last 20 years has been great in its own way, but for me, Under the Red Hood stands as one of the very best. It’s not only a gripping Batman story but also a perfect introduction to the best in the Bat-Family (I said what I said) the Red Hood. While Kevin Conroy will always be the voice of Batman, Bruce Greenwood delivers a phenomenal performance here, balancing the stoic seriousness of Batman with moments of deep emotion. Neil Patrick Harris’ Nightwing and Jensen Ackles’ Red Hood are equally strong, but the real standout is John DiMaggio’s Joker. Like Kevin, Mark Hamill IS the Joker but DiMaggio makes the role his own, bringing a sharp, sarcastic edge and an amazing laugh. The story itself is a bit predictable—especially if you’ve read the comic—but it’s executed with precision and style. The character designs and Gotham’s look feel classic but updated. It almost looks like it was meant to be a film set in the 90’s Batman animated series universe. The fights are energetic and slightly more violent than we were used to seeing at that time. We see characters get beaten to death and heads exploding. It’s dark and fits this world and story perfectly. Although the overall story is nothing groundbreaking, the strong vocal performances, a classic but updated style reminiscent of 90’s animated batman and a more violent tone make Under the Red Hood a must-see film for any Batman fan. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/10/25 Full Review Garry A This better than any of the non-animated DC films Warner Brothers have ever put out! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/08/25 Full Review Sebastron L.
