When their boat is sunk while crossing the Timor Sea during World War II, a young troop of Australian soldiers must find a way to survive the harsh seas on a quickly shrinking life raft. Hundreds of miles from anywhere, they must confront interpersonal conflicts, enemy attacks, and the advances of one very large, very hungry great white shark. From Kiah Roache-Turner, director of Wyrmwood and Sting, comes this uniquely terrifying tale.

Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 10, 2025 Full Review Jake Wilson Sydney Morning Herald It’s a good B-movie plot, and Beast of War is best described as a good B-movie. Rated: 3/5 Oct 9, 2025 Full Review Vicky Lawrence Starburst It doesn’t reinvent the wheel and it lacks scares, but it proves to be an enjoyable watch and really throws you into a world of tension. Rated: 4/5 Oct 14, 2025 Full Review Rebecca Sayce FILMHOUNDS Magazine Despite being the latest in a long line of sharksploitation films, Beast Of War successfully turns the subgenre on its head with a full-throttle narrative packed full of blood-pumping moments, giving plenty for audiences to sink their teeth into. Rated: 4/5 Oct 14, 2025 Full Review Joshua Ryan Sunshine State Cineplex The creature design is impressive, and the shark is a genuinely terrifying piece of practical effects work. But there is a lack of menace and peril in its stalking of the stranded soldiers. Rated: 5/10 Oct 14, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Ashley R The movie was awesome, visual effects were stunning and the CGI was good. I would highly recommend this movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/08/25 Full Review James M Best shark horror movie I’ve seen in a while. Highly recommend!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/03/25 Full Review InFlames - Anyone saying the shark looks bad is crazy. It looks like an Fn Evil Shark. And the way it is shot, it makes it that much better. It's based on actual evens that happened. Kind of like Quin explaining the attack on the Indianapolis in the scene in JAWS. Really good movie. With pretty much zero CGI. Only times they use it is for deeper underwater shots. Which is really only 1 time, not anything major. Such more of a tense movie with a real looking shark. The shots of the real shark prop are very very well done. They keep the tension the whole movie. I am surprised. I went in thinking it wasnt going to be that good. And I was pleasantly surprised and proved wrong. It's definitely worth the $6.99 on prime to rent it. It's better than 95% of the $29.99, $19.99 rentals out now. Do it! If you grew up watching JAWS and you were scared to swim in the deep end of a pool, because in your head...JAWS was going to come up from underground, break through the pool floor and eat you....watch this movie. Lol. You wont be disappointed. I still think about that every so often in a pool. And I'm 45. Haha. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/30/25 Full Review Cemi H Another great Australian movie! Great acting and the story live will live you on the edge throughout the movie. Something about Australian movies that I find way more engaging than American. Highly recommend💯💯💯 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/20/25 Full Review Les N Not bad. It is an Aussie film after all. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/16/25 Full Review C V Sharks movies should always use practical effects like this. It's unfortunate that the writing doesn't really live up to the shark itself. The characters are 2-dimensional caricatures of real people, and honestly take up too much of the film. The only thing remotely fun about the movie is the shark itself, and even then I don't know if it's utilized to its full extent. A lot of the interesting/fun things about this movie are in its production, not in the movie itself. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/15/25 Full Review Read all reviews
