David Stratton The Australian There are fine performances from the ensemble, with [Salma] Hayek's feisty outsider and [John] Lithgow's smug, self-satisfied tycoon making the most satisfying contributions. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 22, 2017 Full Review Max Weiss Baltimore Magazine I can't quite say I enjoyed it, but I'm not going to forget it that easily, either. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 29, 2017 Full Review Peter Rainer Christian Science Monitor Hayek gives one of her better performances, though - she makes it clear that Beatriz may be righteous, but she's also more than a bit unhinged - and Lithgow is so good at playing CEO oiliness that you have to smile. He's the man you love to hate. Rated: B- Jun 23, 2017 Full Review Fletcher Powell KMUW - Wichita Public Radio ... an effective study of character and what’s really important in our lives ... kate k Billed as a dark comedy. The ending was a joke, so I guess that qualified this movie as a comedy. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/30/24 Full Review Marlene A It's a great movie with exceptional acting. Regarding the ending, I wished the lanterns had burnt their beautiful houses, and Beatriz had saved the earth, but that would be fantasy. The ending is left for each one of us to interpret. In my version of the ending, Earth, selfishness, and empathy represented by Beatriz, perished while men like Doug Strutt and his minions burned the earth with their lanterns of selfish pleasures. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/22/24 Full Review Matthew D What a lazy, half-hearted, uninspired copout of an ending. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/02/24 Full Review Alec B The ending leaves a lot to be desired but Hayek's low key performance is great. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/03/24 Full Review Dee F As subtle as a sledgehammer and just as much fun to be around. I don't think my family will ever forgive me for choosing this one. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/23 Full Review Ziggy T Kohutav. Embarrasing drivel. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
