A tale that technically spans two centuries, BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD DO THE UNIVERSE promises to sit atop all future lists of the Dumbest Science Fiction Movies Ever Made. The saga begins when Beavis and Butt-Head wind up at space camp through "creative sentencing" from a juvenile court judge in 1998. Mistaking a docking simulator for something else (huh huh), Beavis and Butt-Head excel at it and are asked to join the space shuttle mission in a PR move. After ruining the mission, they are left for dead in space and end up going through a black hole and reemerging back on Earth in 2022, only to discover a very different world -- and find themselves considered Buttholes of Interest by the NSA, the governor of Texas, and a highly intelligent version of themselves from a parallel universe. Also they almost lose their virginity, but don't.

A pesar de lo estúpido del conflicto, realmente quieres y te involucras en la historia para que los protagonistas cumplan su objetivo. La historia es superficial y solo son un suceso de eventos para que la trama avance, pero el planteamiento de la misma está muy bien desarrollado. La historia tiene un hilo conductor claro y a pesar de no ser nada propositiva avanza de buena manera por el gran uso de la comedia. Para mí lo que hace a esta película especial es que supieron trasladar dos personajes tan arraigados a su época a los “Tiempos Actuales”, pero sin hacerlos aburridos o con un humor más ligero. Siguen siendo los personajes vulgares e irreverentes que amamos de tiempos más sencillos. La animación es muy buena, y a pesar de lo limitado de la historia llega a tener momentos que visualmente están bien logrados. Algo que me dio un poco de lastima fue que abandonaran el choque cultural de los protagonistas en un mundo tan revolucionado para centrarse en una “roadtrip movie” más convencional y con un conflicto tan grandilocuente. Si, da pie a momentos buenos, pero siento que esta decisión hace que se pierda un poco la magia de ver a estos personajes en un mundo tan cuadrado cómo este, dejándome con ganas de más momentos cómo los de la universidad que me parecieron geniales. Algo que me gustaría recalcar de la película es su gran uso del “Bromance” con nuestros protagonistas, tienen mejor química y desarrollo que otras películas convencionales románticas. Me gustó que lo usaran cómo una pieza narrativa clave para que empaticemos con ellos, y creo que lo logran, retratan de forma genuina su lazo emocional y cómo más allá de las bromas y todo tienen un vínculo especial. Si tuviera que sacar una conjetura más analógica de la cinta para mi habla del despertar físico en nuestra maduración y cómo nuestras expectativas cómo nuestra desesperación nos puede jugar una mala pasada, y creo que está cool que se toque este tema más sexual al que otras cintas huyen, si, lo desarrollan en el subtexto pero creo que es lo suficientemente claro y está presente en la película correcta para repercutir con las personas que al igual que Beavis estén en una situación parecida.
