See more Gabriel M @Anonymous12 Apr 6 I went into the 1982 version of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas with some enthusiasm, largely due to Burt Reynolds' presence as the sheriff. I've always enjoyed his charismatic performances, and his role in this film reminded me of his iconic character in Smokey and the Bandit. However, my excitement was short-lived. While Reynolds' performance was enjoyable, the film's excessive sexual content quickly became a turn-off for me. I found it to be gratuitous and overly explicit, which ultimately made the movie feel boring and unengaging. On the other hand, the soundtrack did have some redeeming qualities. Some of the songs were catchy and pleasant to listen to, which helped to break up the monotony of the film's more explicit moments. Overall, I think the film had a lot of potential, but it fell short in its execution. With a bit more restraint and subtlety, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas could have been a much better movie. As it stands, it feels like a missed opportunity. I would have preferred a more nuanced and balanced approach to the film's themes, rather than the in-your-face sexuality that dominated the screen. With some tighter editing and a more thoughtful approach to the story, this could have been a really enjoyable film. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. To be honest, I'm hoping they don't make another one. I think it's best to leave this one in the past. I would only recommend The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas to fans of Burt Reynolds or those who are particularly interested in the film's subject matter. Otherwise, I think there are better movies out there that balance humor, drama, and sensuality in a more effective way. It seemed as if Dolly was preparing to leave, which would have made sense in the context of the film's progression, but then she stays. This moment felt unnecessary and slightly disconnected from the narrative. It left me wondering if it was meant to be a symbolic gesture or if it was simply added for emotional impact without much thought to how it fit into the story. Despite this, the movie still had its high points, and it's worth watching for fans of Dolly's music and performances. What they changed other than names I don't know, other than spontaneous singing. The only real flaw is the football team's dance was too long. Other than that, it's a near perfect classic.
