This wasn't a terrible film... the characters are quirky and the events are unrealistic. Eventually we learn the stories behind some of the characters's eccentricities which gives them more depth and makes them seem less cartoonish.

Powerful dark and insightful with just the right amount of comedy that doesn’t overcome the message. People who seem simple to others often are not. Fitz Paradise thought he was lost and eventually discovers that he is not, but while on his journey helps others find their way. A wonderfully painful and bittersweet love story. Garrison is unfortunately emotionally scared from living his life according to his beliefs of honor and righteousness. Scars and all, he still holds on to the pureness of his first love, eventually to find that it was never requited. Even with all of his innocence lost, he still believes that his grandson can keep his, and he helps him to do so. A wonderful example of one generation’s sacrifice for the next in the hopes that pure and innocent love can exist in our messy world.
