Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter A truly serious subject is handled with unimaginable vulgarity in this debut feature by Varun Khanna that sacrifices credibility at every turn for abject sensationalism. Mar 30, 2006 Full Review Tim Grierson L.A. Weekly A movie this awfully scripted, acted and executed forfeits its right to be forgiven for good intentions. Mar 30, 2006 Full Review V.A. Musetto New York Post Unfortunately, the movie is melodramatic and heavy-handed. Rated: 1/4 Mar 17, 2006 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide Khanna addresses the volatile issue of women's rights within Islamic households, and if his sensationalistic debut feature makes its point with a heavy hand, it's also starkly provocative. Audience Member Surprisingly graphic and realistic. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member After the movie ends the audience is informed about the pervasiveness of female genital mutilation. This evidences the disingenuous and completely ludicrous plot of the movie. The acting and the plot points are anyone with at least two brain cells working in concert. Beyond Honor pretends to be about the clashing of Islamic and western culture when, in reality, it merely exploits this clash that is alluded to in a very pretentious, hokey, distasteful and disgusting manner. There is an any action of immorality or abuse depicted in this movie that couldn't have been ameliorated by simply calling the police. I consider this to be one of the worst movies I've ever watched. As painful as it was I decided to watch it to the end simply out of curiosity and a very slim possibility that some home it might redeem itself. It didn't.
