nick s It had a bit of a theatrical Hollywood tint but overall it was a great adventure movie. The acting was solid, the ship models looked good, and the swordfighting was impressive. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/21/23 Full Review j F Yes, very swashbuckling adventure, but in the end, a bit too kitschy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/23 Full Review johnathon w Fun swashbuckler that while not extraordinary, makes for a fun watch. Tyrone Power is at his leading man best, especially when verbally sparring with Maureen O'Hara, though their courtship is rather out dated today. They also get great support from the rest of the cast, from Thomas Mitchell to Anthony Quinn. Behind the camera, director Henry King crafts a fun adventure film, that while not extraordinary makes a fun way to pass the time, especially with the sword fighting scenes (which are done for real and are always great to watch). Overall, not the worse way to spend your time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Tyrone Power is dreamy and this pirate movie is just as fun as any Errol Flynn swashbuckler, at his peak. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review deke p Never saw before now on tv 6.29.21. Swasjbickler. Interesting. But a lot of questionable context. & spoiled by a lot of goofy silly music. Pirates can be very sexist. And Far Tortuga, as well as Haiti, Jamaica, etc., not very nice things goin on there then. And TYRONE POWER, playing the straight man to Maureen O'Hara. & ANTHONY QUINN, & THOMAS MITCHELL. Key part of the plot is the high seas were so lawless, with pirates etc, that the English Monarch out of expediency hat to pardon the pirate HENRY MORGAN nnd make him Gov of Jamaica with powers to route the enemy... the Spanish, etc. Saw it again on 5.16.2022 tv. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Tom M A true swashbuckler. Tyrone Power matches Errol Flynn as the quintessential debonaire loverboy pirate. No actress looked better in Technicolor than Maureen O'Hara. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/21/20 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
