John Simon Esquire Magazine An honest and harrowing film. It makes horror not a glamorous adventure, merely horrible and, worse yet, banal. Jul 30, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member First French film to touch upon the 1942 Vel d'hiv roundup that saw French police in Paris collaborate with the nazi occupants to forcefully round up jewish families (including chidren) to send them to death camps. The story follows a young man desperately trying to save at least one person. The film is a harrowing experience and yet one cannot stop watching, hoping until the very end that at least one good thing will happen amidst all the horror. It is a very well directed film and the actors are really quite good. A must watch, for sure, but I would advise against watching it alone or when feeling down.
