Audience Member My Rating: 3/5 stars; Grade: B-; Gesture: Thumbs Sideways; Status: Passable (Fresh); Emoticon: :-I. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Classic Sammo Hung weapons flick where he plays a spear student and a sword master. Which weapon is the best? Magnets. "Extraordinarily versatile fight sequences and weapons work." Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the oddest and funniest kung-fu flicks I have ever seen. Great sword and spear fighting scenes too, but Sammo takes the prize for most entertaining. "Mr. Rocking" was pretty good too for comic effect. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Awesome sword vs spear fights. End is just insane! INSANE!!!!!!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member My only choices were the dubbed version or the original with no subtitles. I opted for the dub, but it only made this crazy martial arts movie better. Once every year at the Ghost Festival, the Master of the Sword and the Master of the Spear duel it out with their respective weapons. Every time, it ends with a draw. They settle upon a new plan, each will find a student and teach them their weapon skill, and ten years later they will fight to the death for their masters to see who is the best. Problem is, an old enemy of the masters returns to seek vengeance, and kidnaps their pupils in order to lure them out. A surreal little movie, as Sammo Hung and Chia Yung Liu play both the old masters and the young pupils. The weapon mastery is extraordinary and they also have some hand to hand at the end. It doesn't skimp on the action either, and it makes for a classic martial arts film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Classic wuxia style kung fu cinema with very creative weapons choregraphy. With Hk martial art cinema influentials Like Sammo Hung & Lau Kar Leung. It's worth noting that the film is very well shot and put together is it's one of those few actors played many different characters at once films. Where it's all down to doubles and clever camera work to keep the conitinuinty going. As Sammo plays the Sword master who teaches sword to a young Lau Kar Leung. While Lau also plays a spear master who trains a young sammo. And the choreography and camera work is very well put together for the second to finale fight scene with all 4 of the character battling.
