      What to know

      Critics Consensus

Book Club only intermittently rises to the level of its impressive veteran cast; fortunately, they're more than enough to bring pedestrian material entertainingly to life. Read critic reviews

Could have been better. 4 books mentioned at the book group and three of them are the 50 shades of Grey trilogy. Borderline insulting, actually and such a cliche. The actresses are all good, but the storyline does them no favours.

While the material was thin at times, the veteran actresses make you care because how talented they are. THe story is slow but it's realistic and not too sugary sweet. Keaton, Fonda and Steenburgen have some fine moments but Bergen was the strongest in my mind and the men who supported them in Garcia, Johnson, Nelson and Dreyfus were just as strong. A nice rental but nothing much more! 08-15-2018

Hey Diane Keaton 1976 called and wants its Annie Hall routine back. This mediocre movie's message in these days of female power enlightenment is that they must have a man to lead a fulfilling life. Maybe their choice should have been Moby Dick. (5-26-18)
