Janaya Greene Chicago Reader With not only Melvin’s Jamaican family, but also the inclusion of characters of African descent, the film exhibits the multiculturalism of Black London that isn’t often shown onscreen. Feb 23, 2022 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) It's a rare achievement contained within an even rarer type of film. Rated: 3/5 Dec 6, 2021 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) A charismatic cast inject some sparkle, but the contrived plotting and thin characterisation take some of the shine off this festive bauble. Rated: 2/5 Dec 5, 2021 Full Review Kelly-Anne Taylor Radio Times It's loud and vivid, with a groovy soundtrack. However, beneath its effervescent energy, the film offers tender insights into racial inequality... Rated: 4/5 Dec 20, 2021 Full Review Stefan Pape Common Sense Media Boxing Day is a film to kick back to, make a cup of tea and enjoy, under a blanket while it snows outside. Rated: 4/5 Dec 17, 2021 Full Review Deirdre Molumby entertainment.ie Its objective of having a good time is undeniable, and it's hard to resist being swept up in the seasonal fun. James G Almost walked out to be honest. I couldn't follow along with half of it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/01/24 Full Review Caz A I don't believe the reviews here are honest. It had so much potential but it is hard to follow, the storylines are not clear, the pacing is off, it's not very funny and there's loose ends like no boxing day tradition is shown despite being discussed by the family. The characters were not well developed either except for the Mum, Dad and Richard storyline. It would've been better if it wasn't trying to be a blockbuster Hollywood movie but just an arthouse low budget movie. It bit off more than it could chew. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/10/23 Full Review Kara W A feel-good romcom, just right for a cold winter night. I loved the soundtrack, the romantic scenes and the family time. Very funny. Definitely relatable in many ways. I'm late to the party, but I've already watched it 3 times. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/18/22 Full Review Larissa S I can't say enough good things about this movie! Go watch it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/09/22 Full Review tom m Moderately entertaining. Some of the dialogue was hard to understand with thick English/Caribbean accents and rapid speech. The story was somewhat romcom-predictable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie was refreshing and funny! A great Rom-Com to snuggle up with a glass of wine, popcorn and enjoy! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
