Bisquiteen T Jan 1 You've seen this film before: it's a gender reversal of Fatal Attraction and its many copycats, and unfortunately worse than all of them. And this couple was destined for disaster, so why are we rooting for them? Oh, right, the trope of "we have a shared traumatic event now and it brought us close." Um, okay, you really want that to be the basis of your romantic relationship? That's like two POWs marrying for no reason other than similar suffering. I do like when they use really unremarkable people in these movies (Michael Douglas, "Swimfan" guy, the woman here). When it's someone like Idris Elba in that Beyonce mess, you might think yeah, I could lose my mind for him too. With these aggressively mediocre people, you see clearly that it's a pathology of the obsessive one. And that...is all that this has going for it. It brings nothing new enough to be interesting to this storyline. Wes Bentley is menacing, yes, but he's menacing in every role he's ever played. Tired trope, tired film. The bad guy's background in the Private Detective's file folder was too fishy. Bad guy standing on the roof watching his notes get burned. Razor amputation...that's a joke.
