I love this movie. LOVE IT! The entire cast gives their all with an innocent sense of ‘gosh-oh-golly-gee’ sincerity and charm. Chris Elliott’s delightfully childish but clever sense of humor is second only to Paul Reubens’, and I favor this ‘90s staple just as highly as “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure” because of it. A gratifying belly-laugh throughout, this is one lovable, quirky little jewel.

Here's a comedy that at the very least tried something different so while I totally get why a lot of people don't like it, the vitriol and anger directed at the movie was completely unjustified. What works for me are the deliberately cheap yet highly stylized designs and the weird performances where everyone seems totally committed to this bonkers premise.
