Variety Staff Variety Execution is uninspired, laughs are hard to find, and the script is also difficult to locate. Jul 6, 2010 Full Review Time Out There are nun jokes, mafia jokes, big breast jokes, karate jokes, Jaws jokes, more big breasts. It's a long ride. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Cannonball Run II is one of the laziest insults to the intelligence of moviegoers that I can remember. Sheer arrogance made this picture. [Full Review in Spanish] Sep 24, 2019 Full Review Burl Burlingame Honolulu Star-Advertiser The movie is a genuine cultural artifact, a relic given to us by a band of entertainers from long ago, who live in self-imposed exile in the dusty, neon hellhole of Las Vegas. Patrick D Another Cult Classic. Not as good as the first one, but worth watching none the less. The old comedies are the best because they did not worry about being PC. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/08/24 Full Review David W Sticks very much to the same formula and although not quite as funny as the first Cannonball there are still some broad humoured laughs to be had. There are some very funny cameos and the main stars again do well but the scripts not got quite as many high points. Still it more than passes the laugh test for me. The wokes will hate it but I enjoyed it. Maybe you need to be of a certain vintage to get the most out of it as the humour is very much of the era. A guilty pleasure. And a damn sight funnier that the 'knowing', self referencing, meta garbage thats being churned out today. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/22/23 Full Review Avery T A magnum opus, a sheer triumph of the human spirit. Bombass. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/18/23 Full Review Michael M Brutal, Just Plain Brutal... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/21 Full Review Audience Member Great classic flick that never gets old! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Cannonball Run II is the sequel to the 1981 coast to coast race film from Hal Needham and Burt Reynolds. Did you see that one? Then you've seen this one. It's a cartoonish romp with a collection of Las Vegas royalty and country stars. Yes, this is another on of those Burt Reynolds good ole' boy comedies. Way over the top, Cannonball Run II is almost fun to watch. Almost. It's poorly written and the performances are strictly phoned in. Did Shirley Maclaine really follow up Terms of Endearment with this? Ugh. And Frank Sinatra's cameo? It's legendary in that the Chairman wasn't even there with the cast, yet appears in the blooper reel. Really? We can easily tell with the poor editing that they were not together. A poorly matched mess. Far removed from Crosby and Hope, it's a road picture injected with steroids and over used '80's cliches. You can watch it, but the camp is turned up to eleven and all you get is a need to go on a real road trip. There isn't much left to say about it. It's just a bad movie.
