Fighting to support herself and her young son (Sawyer Gacka) while clinging to her recent sobriety -- and with Christmas fast approaching -- she takes a job at the local pawn shop owned by the town's only Muslim family. She initially butts heads with the owner's son Hasan (Farshad Farahat), a man with a secret of his own. As their relationship deepens, forces within their tiny community propel them toward one dangerous, explosive night. Will they each face the mistakes of their past... or be destroyed by them forever.

Paul T Such a heart-felt film. Cast is great, with honest performances. Beautifully shot. Independent film at it's finest. Definitely worth a watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/22/24 Full Review Louise R This lovely, powerful movie speaks to our inexorable need for connection and how embracing that need and engaging with the humanity of others can help mitigate the crushing weight of loss. The performances are captivating—special kudos to Deborah Puette and Farshad Farahat—the directing unflinching, and the cinematography a feast for the eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review Jenny B This film was absolutely beautiful. It captured the raw struggle of real issues and topics in an eloquent, authentic, and enthralling way. Shout out to Deborah Puette for pointing out the elephant in the room in such a dark time and showing the love that it needs. The power is in the story teller and what a beautiful story teller she is. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review Michael M A low key heart felt movie about real struggles and powerful connections. Top notch performances across the board . Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review Laurie O If the human condition and its messy, painful, gorgeous and redemptive paradigm could be epitomized in a 90-minute film, then this is that film. With an economy of words that trusts its audience, a powerful and beautiful consistency of imagery that conveys, silently, the heartbreak and hope all tangled together in this film, and some of the finest acting I've seen in quite a long time, this movie is a must-see for anyone who feels connected the world and yet disenfranchised from it at the same time. This is a story of devastating mistakes born of pain; it's a story of love lost in tragedy, and found once again in the sheer insistence upon itself between humans, despite all their fallibilities. Cash For Gold rides the invisible line between a story about characters, and an emotionally immersive experience for anyone who has felt utterly unworthy of joy and of love, only to find, against his or her fiercely guarded convictions, that joy and love do not hold grudges and will not be denied. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review Joel P Excellent movie. Great cast. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review Read all reviews
