Fighting to support herself and her young son (Sawyer Gacka) while clinging to her recent sobriety -- and with Christmas fast approaching -- she takes a job at the local pawn shop owned by the town's only Muslim family. She initially butts heads with the owner's son Hasan (Farshad Farahat), a man with a secret of his own. As their relationship deepens, forces within their tiny community propel them toward one dangerous, explosive night. jenny r Wow. The depth that Deborah Puette took her script, characters (including her own) and direction touched my heart and soul. Her portrayal of addiction was accurate and heartbreaking. Perfect actors and direction. This is a must-see film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/25 Full Review Rob N I loved this film so much I watched it twice, at two different screenings. Gorgeously acted, poignantly directed, beautifully shot. It's a heartwarming and heartbreaking ride, filled with authenticity and emotion. Watch it. I think you'll be glad you did. #SupportIndependentFilm Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Jamie L Cash for Gold is a beautiful, heart-wrenching film. The characters are brilliantly nuanced -- proving that every person is flawed, yet redemption is always possible. I was lucky enough to see an early screening of this film and have thought about it many times since then. This film explores bigotry, addiction, and the complexity of relationships -- all while feeling wonderfully small and contained. The performances are exceptional as well. I highly recommend anyone who is able to see this film! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Tommy B this is absolutely the kind of movie you want to see from a independent filmmaker. It's a very moving and intimate story told in a very unique way with unique characters and setting. It feels so personal and precise, but also beautifully incorporates issues of single motherhood, small-town america, xenophobia, substance abuse, and community. Deborah Puette accomplishes a powerhouse achievement as writer, leading ACTOR, co-Director and co-producer! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Tyler B Deborah Puette, the writer and director, channeled her passion into creating a beautiful feature film from her short film. In a world filled with negativity and cynicism, this movie stands as a true beacon of renewed hope as we begin the new year. I loved the film on many levels and appreciate how it took me on a journey, eliciting a range of emotions. I attended the Midwest premiere at the Mayfair Theater and have been encouraging my friends and family not to miss this movie. I'm excited for the grand release date on February 4th, and I hope everyone will keep an eye out for where to watch it. I wish this film continued success and look forward to seeing how audiences will fall in love with it as I did. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/01/25 Full Review julie V The writer and the director took full advantage of the beauty of the location. They shared a simple story that tugs at the heart and makes you smile to yourself. Such wonderful moments between the actors, it truly is a slice of life on the big screen, which I absolutely loved.
