A poignant feature film about loss, forgiveness, and hope in America's heartland, CASH FOR GOLD tells the story of Grace (Deborah Puette), an Army widow hiding a dark secret. Fighting to support herself and her young son (Sawyer Gacka) while clinging to her recent sobriety -- and with Christmas fast approaching -- she takes a job at the local pawn shop owned by the town's only Muslim family. She initially butts heads with the owner's son Hasan (Farshad Farahat), a man with a secret of his own. As their relationship deepens, forces within their tiny community propel them toward one dangerous, explosive night. Will they each face the mistakes of their past... or be destroyed by them forever.

Nell Minow RogerEbert.com It is the compassion the film has for its characters that is the film’s true grace. Rated: 3/4 Feb 5, 2025 Full Review Noah Berlatsky Chicago Reader Cash for Gold, in its modest way, asks us to exchange our worst America for a better one. Jan 23, 2025 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) The script definitely runs into a few indie film clichés, but the performances all around are moving, and the film’s world building is rich and nuanced. Feb 8, 2025 Full Review Michael Clark Epoch Times There are millions of women just like Grace. They are found not only in the US, but all over the world, going through similarly trying circumstances that have no easy answers. What makes Grace so inspiring is her refusal to give up and throw in the towel. Rated: 4/5 Feb 4, 2025 Full Review Kenneth R. Gail S This quiet but gripping movie reminded me of The Deer Hunter in its stark and gritty atmosphere. The characters, even the alcoholic brother-in-law, are realistic, engaging, and sensitively portrayed. Although it could have had a different ending, the one it did have was very satisfying. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/25 Full Review Wendy P This is a truly authentic picture of love and loss and redemption. The characters are rich and sympathetic. The storyline is believable and compelling. This movie deserves a place with top indies. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/25 Full Review Stephen H We saw this movie earlier in St Petersburg Florida.
