SICKS6SIX S Nov 24 I haven't seen it yet but it has Dirk Bogart in and he's never made a duff film that I know of. Great British actor. I wish he hadn't destroyed his life's collection of work. His notes and his diary's just before he died. He said there wasn't anything to scandalous in them but didn't think people would be very interested in his writings of 60 years. How wrong he was. And by today's standards Dirk was a Saint. So he couldn't have revealed anything to damaging. Probably the opposite. He could have only enhanced his reputation. Only one person knew the contents of his writings but he never revealed anything about them. See more Tony W Sep 20 Dirk Bogarde was always a great actor right from the young cop-killer in The Blue Lamp through to playing the guilty looking General Browning in A Bridge Too Far. This movie is particularly good. The whole cast are exceptional, including the stalwart Kathleen Harrison as the simple maid. It also captures England in the 1950s with 3 elderly ladies playing music in a tearoom for dancing, to the female cunning of Margaret Lockwood's character, and I'd love that Sunbeam open tourer car. 10/10. See more Alain E @AlainE Dec 28 Pretty solid thriller. Personally I prefer Bogarde the way he looked older as in the Night Porter. Here he plays convincingly the psychopathic killer. Regarding the final scene, if you find yourself going downhill in a car without brakes you steer the car away from the cliff so it stops through friction. In the movie the whole scene is obviously fake as we see the car breaking in multiple little pieces as if it was manufactured of balsa wood. The wonderful Dirk Bogarde - what an amazing actor indeed.. and those eyes.. plus the superb Ms Lockwood. It’s got the same feel that the Boulting brothers “ Brighton Rock” had. See more Ted B @Movieaddicted 06/05/2024 3.5 stars; The plot was very Hitchcockian. I like the way the Brits can take a noir movie and add twists and turns to keep you guessing on how it will turn out. Not everything is as you think. Dirk Bogarde plays a cunning gigolo whose plan to become wealthy is. to murder his wives and collect their inheritance. Things don't go as planned after he murders his first wife and moves on to the second one. This is a 70-year-old movie but still plays well to today's audiences. See more Read all reviews
