Audience Member Dumb as Hell and derivative Korean Wuxia, funny im equal measure if in the right mood: flying swordsmen and horror meet for a cheap hybrid of Chinese Ghost Stories and The Exorcist, with dialogues so wasted that the name Jaunbie is pronounced 64 times for the span of 93 minutes of flick: so an enviable record! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Thoroughly enjoyable and accurate description of Korean history. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A movie taking place during the Silla period renown for being one of the longest sustained dynasties. The movie can be simply summed up as a martial arts love story mixed with the supernatural. The feel and make of the movie was slightly above "made for cable" both in its filming and storyline. Aside from the martial arts and surprisingly graphic fight scenes filled with chopped limbs, severed heads, and slashed horses, the one saving grace of this film was probably the two attractive female lead actresses. In all seriousness, they were the one silver lining (and I'm not saying that just because I'm a guy). The two actresses not only did the best acting performances but were also the most visually appealing to watch. In regards to filming techniques, I want to give special mention to the Korean movie industry for their skills in replicating underwater scenes. After watching Shadowless sword and this movie, I do believe Koreans' have the "lock down" in creating underwater sequences (whether its CGI or not). Cheonnyeon ho (The Legend of the Evil Lake) is a simple no nonsense straight of the mill Korean martial arts action film. Nothing particularly spectacular or terrible. This movie provided simple enjoyment and helped to pass the time. Recommended for rental to anyone that enjoys watching Korean films that offer entertainment without any complexities. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a Korean try to recreate hte successes of the ancient time martial arts classics from the last few years. Unfortunately this movie lakes the blazing to be epic like for example Hero or Crouching Tiger. The plot is a simple one the tale of love hate and revenge, with combinations of demons and martial arts. The problems lies that the actors are not so convincing and the battle scenes are not directed well as for the example in the aformentioned movies. The ending is also bit too long and streched out. A fair try, but in this field is a fierce competetion so much more is needed then produced. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice Korean period martial arts film, with a little more heart than you would expect. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member classic story of revenge, so enjoyable entertaining and action packed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
