Leslie Felperin Observer (UK) There is shockingly bad dialogue and a lot of extras waiting to fall over dead as Eckhart’s killer for hire finds all is not what it seems. Rated: 2/5 Oct 22, 2024 Full Review JK Sooja Common Sense Media Unfortunately, this film has too many problems to warrant a recommendation. Nov 12, 2024 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed Classified is a film that feels like it had no ambitions, no goal beyond “making a film”. There is a story, it’s on the screen, but that is about all there is to say about it. Nov 6, 2024 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Solid portrayals and scenic visual backdrops can’t save this derivative thriller, in which some character-driven intrigue is overwhelmed by generic action and nondescript villains. Oct 25, 2024 Full Review Gary M. Kramer MovieJawn Ultimately, Classified plays out like the body GPS Shaw is equipped with by his handlers. It works well in the beginning, and it is fun to watch him go through the motions, but once he goes off-mission, things go sideways, never to recover. Oct 22, 2024 Full Review Mark Keizer MovieWeb A slew of action thriller clichés, logy fight choreography, dull pew-pew shootouts and a miscast Abigail Breslin. Morgan A This was bad. Bad, bad, bad... Terrible dialogue, campy action, subpar special effects. I'd rather rewatch the Paul-Tyson "fight"! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review Sam A Great premise! Terrible execution. Dumpy fat bodied Breslin is incredibly miscast as the daughter of two super models. The fight scenes are stupid are too long. This could have been so much tighter and smarter. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review Jaime R Where do I start. The movie barely has a plot or so your lead to believe. The story is not compelling, and the movie limps along for close to two hours, which is quite painful. It was painful to watch the acting, there is no chemistry between Breslin and Eckhart which if the allegations made by Breslin against Eckhart are true it makes complete sense. Or maybe Breslin knew this was a disaster. I have to say Breslins acting was one note and on the verge of bad. Eckharts character is very much the same as all his action movies. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/10/24 Full Review Kevin M So bad. Aaron must have wanted to visit Malta. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/09/24 Full Review Dj M A shame because there are some great actors involved here. I’m not sure who to blame for making this such a poor film. The locations are stunning and there doesn’t appear to be any shortages with the budget but some of the dialogue is cringeworthy. Some lines are delivered with the actor’s back to us, making you wonder if it was actually them that spoke. Some lines are utterly nonsensical like when the villains are running back to the house and the line “Back to the house!” is shouted twice but a few seconds apart when they are all clearly running back without the need for any clarification as to where they are headed. Whilst making his escape at one point, the agent steals the villain’s Jaguar. This car receives a hail of bullets during a prolonged car chase and the sound of broken glass is heard and sparks are seen. The car is seen driving along without so much as a scratch or any bullet holes in its windows. Absolutely ridiculous. I feel embarrassed for the actors because they did a fine job delivering their lines but the way it has been put together is shockingly bad. I could go on but it would be an appalling waste of your time to read my disgruntled opinions which in some way is the same for watching the movie. My advice? Don’t. It will only serve to disappoint you. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Trina B IN A NUTSHELL: The story is about a career CIA hitman who gets his assignments from the classified section of various international newspapers to receive his orders. Suddenly, he discovers that his division has actually been shut down for years. The film was directed by Roel Reine, who also worked as the cinematographer on this project. He stated that he became a director because he loves creating worlds. Writing credits go to Bob DeRosa. THINGS I LIKED: Aaron Eckart sure knows how to pump out movies! I’ve always liked him and his action movies. The cast is really good and includes Tim Roth, Abigail Breslin, and Marysia S. Peres. The musical score does a great job creating tension and intrigue. Abigail Brenan’s snarky humor lightened up the otherwise dark and dramatic scenes. We get to spend time in gorgeous Malta! Some of the live locations are stunning. Going to Malta has been high on my husband’s Bucket List for a long time, and seeing this movie just moved it up higher on my list. There’s an interesting twist in Act 2 that will surprise you. If you’re looking for lots of action and gun fights, you’ve come to the right place. THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE: I don’t know what happened, but Abigail Breslin made wild accusations that Aaron Eckhart was aggressive, demeaning, and unprofessional. The Bulgarian producer of the movie sued her and said her “hysterical and imaginary” allegations put the film’s release in jeopardy. Legal mayhem ensued, resulting in “no evidence” to support her claims. The timeline bounces from the past to the present, which might confuse some viewers. Some plot points simply don’t make sense. For example, if you’re “just an analyst”, why would you go after a known assassin by yourself and think you could outsmart and outfight him? The CGI fire and explosions looked super fake. We also see unrealistic-looking blood sprays when dozens of people get shot. I love it when titles have more than one meeting. In the case of this movie, “classified” has to do with the secret missions of the CIA and MI6, as well as the fact that Aaron Eckhart’s character gets his mission instructions in coded messages in the “classified” ads section of various newspapers. Some of the shoot ‘em up sequences are ridiculous. We see one guy with a handgun and a few rounds escape a barrage of sprays from machine guns and high-powered assault rifles carried by dozens of men. Oh brother. At one point, he walks past an assault rifle to pick up a shotgun instead. Out of nowhere, he has rounds in his pocket. Audiences will pick up on the lack of attention to continuity. For example, the clothing often changes between scenes even though the characters simply walk from one location to another. TIPS FOR PARENTS: Some profanity, including F-bombs Lots of bloody, sometimes gory violence Various weapons are used We see a shirtless man in a shower Innocent people are in harm’s way. Very high dead body count. To see my full review, go to my Movie Review Mom YouTube channel! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Read all reviews
