Critics Consensus

Cold Wallet presents a clever and suspenseful premise with moments of intensity, yet its inconsistent tone and stilted dialogue often undermines what could have been a gripping cautionary tale.

The storytelling economy (small cast, one main location) is welcome, but none of the four characters is the sharpest tool in the shed, and whatever insights Hodierne intends on the cutthroat world of crypto remain elusive. Go to Full Review

A shrewd and suspenseful thriller about three would-be working-class vigilantes determined to retrieve their investments from an amoral scammer. Go to Full Review

Cold Wallet is not a great movie about the consequences of cryptocurrency scamming. It's better taken as a dark comedy instead of a serious thriller. The performances are watchable, and there's enough suspense to keep most viewers engaged in the story. Go to Full Review

Cold Wallet is crushed by contrasting tones and short changes what could have been a gripping and cautionary tale to leave you feeling out of pocket. Go to Full Review

Despite its bid for topicality, Cold Wallet is a dull home invasion thriller with derivative beats and nonsensical dialogue. Oliver Stone claimed Money Never Sleeps, but apparently cryptocurrency is soporific. Go to Full Review

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 4 Cold Wallet explores the high-stakes world of cryptocurrency, following a group of people whose digital fortune is stolen, prompting a reckless mission to confront the thief. The premise is intriguing, balancing the allure and dangers of crypto, but the film struggles to fully capitalize on its potential. While the concept has room for suspense and clever tension, the screenplay falls short, leaving key moments underdeveloped and the story feeling uneven. The characters lack the star power or charisma to make their daring plan truly compelling, which diminishes engagement. Humor and excitement are sparse, making it hard to stay invested in their chaotic journey. The film’s pacing occasionally drags, and the narrative doesn’t justify the risk-filled mission in a convincing way. Overall, Cold Wallet is moderately entertaining, but it fails to leave a lasting impression and is not particularly rewatchable. See more Charles P Aug 4 If it was even marginally more intelligent - in terms of story, acting, pacing - damn near anything really, this one could be above average. As it is, sorta 'meh' for a cloudy lazy Sunday, but nothing to devote too much attention to. This one aims for insight and misses even hair-raising. See more Jerod S @jeroduptown Apr 16 Crypto is an interesting background for the robin hood kind of story...but for something so volitile, Cold Wallet doesn't have much bite. See more Tommy M Mar 11 I like movies and shows that make me think about them in the days and weeks following. This one did that. Some allegorical themes on capitalism coming from the rich tech guy. I really didn’t like him… a testament to a job well done. I especially liked the music… silent night was a nice touch. There were well placed funny moments of levity to keep my heart rate down. Was giving me some serious wtf’s… in a good way! I’m going to watch again to catch any little foreshadows or fun correlations that might come from knowing the ending. Checked all of the boxes of a “crypto-heist thriller” I guess Steven Soderbergh knows good movies. Ha! See more Andrew H @haus_of_H Mar 11 A well made programmer that delivers on everything you want from a contemporary crypto heist movie. The direction elevates the tightly written script that knows its genre but still manages to surprise. They don’t make them like this anymore, and they should! Recalls vintage Fincher - panic room, the game - highly recommended See more Chris L Mar 3 A great thriller with tons of elusive easter eggs dropped all throughout the film, with nods to technological advancements globally, as well as a ton of featured IP known in the crypto sphere and beyond subtly displayed in the film from start to finish. My favourite easter egg in the film was the presence of POG AKA Proof Of Game, the game you collect that was a phenomenon for decades!!! The brand has a core role in the digital application used in the film for the airdrop!!! So creative overall, forces you to "REALLY" pay attention to every little detail. POG is also hosting a $20K raffle that will be distributed to lucky purchasers of the film from decentralized pictures!!! coldwallet.decentralized.pictures https://hub.pogdigital.com/ref/GXLHK5Z9 https://pogunlimited.com/pogmania https://x.com/POGDigital https://x.com/POGGameOfficial https://x.com/n0acls WATCH THIS MOVIE ASAP!!!
