Yellowfur D There are some exquisite character and crime designs that exceed expectations. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Comeuppance is a fine example of the creativity of Johnnie To's Milkyway Filmgroup and it's team of writers, and of the wide range of director Derek Chiu. With an exceptionally intelligent screenplay, Chiu makes a point of not meeting any expectations of a generic crime thriller, turning a few of the genres rules inside out (including a few established within the Milkyway family itself) with a brilliant sense of dark humour. Chiu relies heavily on visuals rather than dialougue in telling his story and manages to get some refreshingly offbeat performances from both Jordan Chan and Patrick Tam. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member a decent offering from Milkyway, it starts out a bit rough but things pick up after about 30 minutes and the majority of it is enjoyable. there are several highly comical moments as well, such as the poisoned donuts used to kill certain Triad members, as well as the way Patrick Tam walks around! overall, it's definitely a marginal recommendation.
