Logesh Balachandran The Times of India Connect has a lot of connectivity issues, but the technical aspects of the film are brilliant, especially the sound design (Sachin Sudhakaran and Hariharan) and cinematography. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 2, 2023 Full Review Priyanka Sundar Firstpost Connect, starring Nayanthara in the lead role, is technically sound, but the uninspired plot drags the film down drastically. Rated: 2/5 Nov 2, 2023 Full Review Srivatsan S The Hindu Connect can get really scary at times. But you feel a disconnect when you realise that Connect is a movie that places its trust on the theatrics of the genre and not on emotion. Nov 2, 2023 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV The film connects with the audience in substantial ways without having to resort to the kind of in-your-face means that horror films usually foist upon the audience. Rated: 3/5 Jan 6, 2023 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Connect is not a groundbreaking movie about a teenage girl possessed by the devil. However, this horror flick delivers some effective jump scares and has very good acting, despite the predictable story. Dec 27, 2022 Full Review Haricharan Pudipeddi Hindustan Times Nayanthara is her earnest best in Connect, but the film truly belongs to debutante Haniya Nafisa... Views Of C Connect - 6.5/10. Alright, this is one of those cases of a "good/bad" movie! Its bad because I've seen this movie a million other times in tamil cinema (the Kanchana/Muni series, the Aranmanai series, Chandramukhi, etc). The good here is the cinematography (some of the best cinematography in a horror film in tamil cinema in ages!) and the performances of Haniya Nafisa and Nayanthara. Otherwise, this is a generic and super predictable movie, with an annoying amount of jumpscares. For Ashwin Saravanan, this is a lazy attempt in my personal opinion. The man has made some good movies before, so I'm not sure as to why he resorted to making this kinda movie. He knows how to build tension, but it seems lazy of him to make a movie of this kind when his first two films were interesting horror movies in tamil cinema. Connect is not amazing, but not bad. It just sits in this limbo of okay! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/29/23 Full Review Dinesh P Stunning movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Phenomenal screen presence of Nayantara. Terrific acting by Satyaraj. Do not know who the teen girl is, but she absolutely kills it. She is incredible. Anupam Kher does a terrific cameo role. In sum, an awe-inspiring horror flick - the likes of which we haven't seen in Tamil cinema ever. For those looking for more of a story line or drama or melodrama, you came to the wrong place. This is just what it is - a simple movie about a possession gone wrong and an exorcism that goes right. The Covid connection is subtle and all too real. During the peak of the pandemic, or the fear that was mongered during the so called pandemic, many millions the world over faced depression, suicidal thoughts and deeply disturbing psychological symptoms. This here is a well told story about the trials and tribulations of one such teenager and her mom, who come face to face with an undeniable disaster in their lives when the girl's father, a doctor striving to save Covid patients in a hospital passes away after contracting the virus himself. The rest of the story is replete with what happens in their lives beyond this tragic event. I must admit that I am a die-hard Nayantara admirer, but even still, I would have enjoyed this movie regardless of the protagonist. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Dhanu K Connect is strictly a one-time watchable horror flick with a low number of characters and some solidly crafted heebie-jeebies that had the potential to be so much more.
