22% 18 Reviews Tomatometer 58% 50+ Ratings Audience Score Authority Inc's newest employee, Orson (Jon Hamm), instantly develops a distaste for his office colleagues, offended by such things as their lackadaisical work habits, their sloppy attire, and even the lack of credibility of a young child's drawing depicting the sun on one of their desks. Determined to be "a person to be reckoned with," he prides himself on his work ethic, hewing to a strict hourly schedule of 55 minutes of intense work followed by a five-minute break. It isn't until Orson discovers an empty, elegantly appointed, wood-paneled office that he finds momentary contentment. Retreating there whenever he can, he discovers that it provides an inner peace that enables him to do his best work, resulting in kudos from his boss and the never seen "EVP" upstairs who truly controls things. His newfound status only increases his co-workers' resentment. More problematically, none of them can see the apparently magical office that serves as Orson's refuge. John B It is a bittersweet short story, produced well. Not sure why reviews are so polarized. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/02/24 Full Review Hyper O I enjoyed that movie, it's a weird movie that is on my list of recommended movies of 2023 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/24 Full Review John A …this movie is about addiction Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/24 Full Review Fabio N "Corner Office," adapted from the book "The Room," presents a rare venture into low sci-fi where the tangible reality of the world and the protagonist's mental stability take center stage. While Jon Hamm's presence may feel slightly out of place, the compelling dramatic scenes, skillful supporting cast, and the film's timeless setting create a coherent ambiance spanning between the '80s and the present day. The exploration of the main character's sanity, reminiscent of Philip K. Dick's style, adds a formidable layer to the narrative. The bold and sophisticated choice of an open ending deserves applause, making it a must-watch for sci-fi enthusiasts. Additionally, the film has sparked my interest in reading the original book, 'The Room,' and has become a catalyst for engaging discussions with friends, further enhancing the overall experience. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/24 Full Review Daniel T Without spoiling, this movie might be best described by saying it's made up of elements to of these movies/shows: Office Space, The Office, Severance, Lars and the Real Girl, and American Psycho. The trailer was giving an impression of the movie that might've steered people's expectations in the wrong direction. And I was worried when I saw some ratings that were very low. But then you watch it and it's perfectly fine. Better than fine, it's quietly captivating. The tone of the movie doesn't even demand much patience from the audience to "bear with it" while it hits its stride; you're inside Orson's head, hearing his thoughts and seeing his point of view, wondering if he's crazy or it's everyone else. I really liked this movie, it's subversive and strange in truly uncommon ways. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review Jennifer H Terrible, boring and so slow. No recommended. Claudia Puig FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's meant to be absurdist and satirical, but it just comes off one-note and facile. It may have worked as a short, but not a full length feature. Aug 17, 2023 Full Review Peyton Robinson RogerEbert.com “Corner Office” is a sometimes-funny satire stuffed with capitalist ennui, but it bites with dull teeth. Aug 10, 2023 Full Review William Repass Slant Magazine The film goes to show that humanism and absurdism are often two expressions of the same face. Rated: 3/4 Jul 31, 2023 Full Review Tara McNamara Common Sense Media Like its main character, Orson, this comedy is so "peculiar" that not everyone will understand it -- but that's absolutely the point, which makes it brilliant. Rated: 4/5 Aug 17, 2023 Full Review Allen Almachar The MacGuffin The film is making a comment on the trials and tribulations of working in an office setting, but the messaging is fuzzy. Rated: C+ Aug 11, 2023 Full Review Murjani Rawls Draftkings Nation Instead of committing to the sci-fi complexities it can venture towards, 'Corner Office' looks to pull the emergency break on it all. In the end, you are left with two conclusions that both feel incomplete. Aug 9, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews
