Authority Inc's newest employee, Orson (Jon Hamm), instantly develops a distaste for his office colleagues, offended by such things as their lackadaisical work habits, their sloppy attire, and even the lack of credibility of a young child's drawing depicting the sun on one of their desks. Determined to be "a person to be reckoned with," he prides himself on his work ethic, hewing to a strict hourly schedule of 55 minutes of intense work followed by a five-minute break. It isn't until Orson discovers an empty, elegantly appointed, wood-paneled office that he finds momentary contentment. Retreating there whenever he can, he discovers that it provides an inner peace that enables him to do his best work, resulting in kudos from his boss and the never seen "EVP" upstairs who truly controls things. His newfound status only increases his co-workers' resentment. More problematically, none of them can see the apparently magical office that serves as Orson's refuge.

It's meant to be absurdist and satirical, but it just comes off one-note and facile. It may have worked as a short, but not a full length feature. Go to Full Review

“Corner Office” is a sometimes-funny satire stuffed with capitalist ennui, but it bites with dull teeth. Go to Full Review

Like its main character, Orson, this comedy is so "peculiar" that not everyone will understand it -- but that's absolutely the point, which makes it brilliant. Go to Full Review

The film is making a comment on the trials and tribulations of working in an office setting, but the messaging is fuzzy. Go to Full Review

See more Kyle M Jul 8 Curious concept bolstered by Hamn’s sharp performance with admirable ethic, only to result in flattened wonderment when turning in as a commentary about the workspace, or stoically adding into “Office Space”, with a considerate metaphor in a form of mundane surreal escapism. These types of disputes pop up occasionally in the workplace, relationships, politics, or elsewhere. If it turns out you were in the wrong the whole time, then you can be forgiven. If you allow yourself to be sidelined into seeing the emperor's clothes, then you are a slave. See more Stuart M May 12 Dark and brooding. I really enjoyed it. If you don't go in expecting a laugh out loud comedy you may too See more Mar 29 This movie should be compulsory viewing for all mangers and HR professionals. I saw it as a thought-provoking take on how an autistic person experiences the workplace, how they interpret feedback, sensory concerns… it showed how limited others can be with taking a beat to see what someone else is seeing. If he is not engaged in a conversation, he does not feel the need to speak. If he is challenged with his work and feels engaged doing it, he will be able to do high quality output once left to his own devices - without sensory distractions that coworkers can bring. Let’s trust our fellow humans a little more, take the time to seek to understand, support ones other to be our best. Gosh, it really gives you a lot to think about, if you take the time to. Please give this movie a go! See more Mar 9 I suffer from insomnia. But this movie was so boring and bad that I fell asleep watching it. An absolute remedy! See more Read all reviews
