Audience Member I love films where where Gene Kelly appears in dramatic, non-musical roles, but I was disappointed with this film. Kelly plays an American naval officer working stiff-upper-lipped British navy scientists on a demolition experiments along the Scottish coast. Adapted from the play Seagulls Over Sorrento, the film suffers from staginess and felt rather lifeless. It's certainly a watchable film and features some solid performances, but I can't help but think this film could have been a whole lot better.
