Jeff Shannon Seattle Times "Curling" is, in part, a film about secrets. Maybe we know what's going on, maybe we don't. That subtly unsettling ambiguity is yet another thing that makes this beguiling film so enticingly different. Rated: 3.5/4 Nov 10, 2011 Full Review Jean-François Rauger Guardian It remains a mysterious, open film, uncluttered by any of the reassuring revelations or explanations that might console us and allay our fear of anything really imaginary. Nov 8, 2011 Full Review Ty Burr Boston Globe A bleakly allusive look at frozen lives, "Curling'' is very much a specialty item - a movie that goes nowhere slowly. Rated: 3/4 Oct 5, 2011 Full Review Dustin Chang Floating World Anchored by the down-to-earth performances from his two leads, Côté skillfully balances the film from going too quirky or too dark. It's one of those films that will linger in your head for days. Mar 21, 2021 Full Review Jason Anderson Cinema Scope Haunting, humane, a bit mysterious, and often very funny, Curling succeeds as a story of two characters whose escape routes from despair are as idiosyncratic as they are. Sep 28, 2017 Full Review Bill Chambers Film Freak Central A slow burn that respects the audience's literacy. Rated: 3.5/4 Mar 20, 2012 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I believe this film had true potential to be good, but unfortunately it fell flat and ridiculous in its unnecessary attempt for a Cohen-like scenario... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member The story of a father and a daughter, living alone in a cold place somewhere in the French speaking parts of Canada. The father is working two jobs, two rather poor jobs, while his daughter don't attend school since he think it's for the better. The small family is weird and unsocial. They are not crazy but the lack something that the rest of people have. They are also extremely shy and uninteresting. Something happen and that makes the father in need of getting away from it all. At the same time the daughter find a bunch of bodies in the woods. That should make it more interesting, but it just seem to happen with an open message for the viewer - or it's just "forgotten" or left out from the plot after a while. We get many interesting things like this in the film, really. I can't descide if I like it. Anyhow, open ends here, but your head can connect some of the dots - making it a story with many opertunities. It's quite nice, but there may be a bit too many questions here. What are they relationship really like? Does he treat her as a prisoner? Or even worse? We never know. Unorthodox, kind of like "Dogtooth" - but not as stylich or shocking. It also has the oldest-looking bowling alley in the world. That's pretty cool. Not for everyone, and I don't know if it was for me either. But I'm sure it will stay with my mind for a while - not visually, but it's mysteriousness. That's a very good thing and it lift's the score. 7 out of 10 unfresh princes in Bel-Aire. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Dull and flat and boring. Literally put me to sleep. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A very strange film. Not The Naked Lunch kind of strange but extremely open ended to the point where we never saw the end coming. A strange character film but yeah.. Still interesting. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Beaucoup trop étrange. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Jutra 2012. Froid et silencieux. Superbe direction photo. Belle performance des Bilodeau. Film d'atmosphère, faut être dans cet à (C)tat d'âme sinon, c'est long. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
